Speed with the ball is a talent. Burst is different from pace.

Kai Havertz is the first Arsenal player to score against an opponent whose first three letters are the same as the first three letters of his first name since Lee Dixon against Leeds in 1996.

Well, Trump is an idiot with good instincts. The problem is how he goes about treating friends and allies to get cooperation on issues. I don’t disagree with him that defense needs to be more of a partnership but he seems dismissive of EU, and specific countries sovereign priorities.

As for “masked paramilitaries executing citizens” that’s 100% false. Bad policing exists. Systemic extrajudicial executions do not. I understand the fear and emotion out there but we all need to be careful about exaggeration while acknowledging we need law enforcement and criminal justice reform.

ICE does not arrest people “for skin color.” Stops require immigration grounds; abuses exist, but they’re not policy and courts, media, and civil suits routinely punish violations.

This is conflation.

In the US, people are not arrested for speech alone. In Europe, people are for insults, hate speech, or historical denial. That’s actual law, not opinion.

Many EU countries criminalize hate speech, insults, denial of historical events, or “incitement” and criticism of the state or monarchs with very broadly defined criteria. Most of those are protected speech in the US. But screening phones at the border, that’s an easy way to determine intent, no?

And here in Fort Worth I can sleep with my doors unlocked. When I lived in Milan, Italy and Mannheim, Germany I wouldn’t dare. It’s not countries that are safe or unsafe, it’s areas.

Now do Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

The issue should be with Infantino then. All of the other corruption is ok but Trump is where we all need to draw the line? FIFA has done far worse than knobbing on an idiot.

It’s no more unsafe in the US than anywhere across the EU and you all overstate how invested Trump is in the WC.

You’re American aren’t you? Then you’d know very little of the World Cup money goes to the federal coffers. 90% stays local to the venue so places like NYC, SF and LA benefit, not Trump.

Is Arteta’s emphasis on control and his aversion to risk causing slow build up & play wide versus fast play through the center? Seems every time Arsenal regain possession it’s instantly played to the wings, slowed down and ends up in the horseshoe of doom just kicking the ball around. #arsecastextra

Wide and slow. It’s not working.

Possession≠dominance. United had better chances and look more secure and threatening with the ball. Arsenal are being contained.

I don’t agree with the way ICE is being used but if you’re not willing to die for something, don’t interfere. Pretti seemed like a good dude and what happened to him was tragic. I wish he just stayed home. I wish everybody would just stay home, or protest without being confrontational.

He should have stayed home too, but there is a difference.

Think I’d rather see Eze in place of Ø

Hope so. City have retooled a bit.

Is it? Or is Arsenal lucky to not lose while other teams underperform?

18.01.2026 14:22 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Is it sustainable?

We absolutely have a system of government. Is it a circus? Yes, but Europe isn’t exactly immune to clowns controlling government either. Mid terms will change things. Trump will be a lame duck president. His Greenland rhetoric is bluster and clumsy but he’s right, Europe can’t be counted on.

These need to be renamed. Maybe the entitlement-o-meter. This team doesn’t deserve to win shit until they can start dictating play, or find a ruthless streak.

Despite everybody's current belief, Kai and Jesus were never prolific and struggled to score against low and mid blocks too. They benefit from being technically adept players with high game IQ so they're easier on the eyes, but still can't finish efficiently. Arsenal just have a problem.

Russia couldn’t unify you, why would the US?

07.01.2026 16:24 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Why? The U.S. hasn’t needed prior congressional approval for limited military action in decades. Obama’s drone wars, the Bin Laden raid, Clinton’s cruise missile strikes, all done under Article II. Congress gets briefed after, not asked first. The threshold is sustained war, not every use of force?
