How about โboth andโ? Forests, wetlands, etc capture carbon and also provide lots of adaptation benefits. We need all of it. So plant, conserve, and stop burning FFs.

This hits so many nails.
For me, itโs the gutting reminder that it took 150+ years to get from the Reformation to the Enlightenment. Iโm not sure what counts as the start of whatever historians will call this period, but my god thatโs a long way to go.

I love this case study. It really captures not just the material principles of circularity but also the social and cultural ones. A beautiful example of how we can fundamentally shift from zero-sum, extractive systems to regenerative relationships that create common value.

Similar but different, my new word is โSeasonanceโ - seasonal dissonance. As in โHaving a bad case of seasonance today in Toronto; itโs Nov 18th and Iโm wearing a tank top.โ

At the Calgary Petroleum Club, a stage play reflects tension, polarization about Canadaโs energy transition
The Assembly: Energy in Canada, a production by Montrealโs Porte Parole, is based on a real dinner conversation and hopes to create a discourse around one of the countryโs most fraught issues
I've argued we need to have this convo out loud. Here it is. Does it help?
Does it inspire necessary empathy or just validate existing views? Does it give credence to perspectives based on objectively false premises? Or reveal ethical nuance we can't ignore? Give me your hot takes.

Iโve been in a clown war with my best friend for 20+ years and Iโm losing. So this year I took portraits of all the clowns and turned them into Christmas ornaments which I will individually wrap and give as gifts to each member of her family. There are 5 clowns in the collection and right now I have 4 of them (the one she has is the ugliest but still). And this ornament tactic, while brilliant, does not actually get these clowns physically out of my house and into her possession - so Iโm still working on it and open to ideas.
Also: climate change is real and caused by the burning of fossil fuels. And itโs not an all or nothing thing - every bit matters. Every bit helps. So donโt give up.
First post feels like walking into a party full of strangers and not knowing what kind of party it is. Do I lead with โand what do you do for work?โ or show you my boysโ baby pics while lamenting โthey are both taller than me now.โ Or ask โhow you enjoying the end of civilization?โ Weird clown pic?
