What happens if you have a perfectly square monitor, say 1800x1800? (Can you tell I try to find edge case bugs in software before release? I went to the same school as Little Bobby Tables! π)

Along with other late 90s PC FPS classics but yeah. UT99 in a browser window... just fantastic. Thanks to the r/LGR subreddit for letting me know about it!
Bought the cassette t-shirt the other week, and I'm very happy with it. It's great quality for anyone wondering, fits perfectly, and looks amazing, obviously. Top work!

01.11.2025 14:55 β π 97 π 6 π¬ 12 π 2Is it worth checking to see if the card can record from a mic or line input? That would at least tell you if the main chip is working. It could be something as simple as the op-amp IC on the output of the card is faulty. A record input would be virtually direct from jack to main chip

I enjoyed my flying visit to Glasgow this week. It was looking splendid in the autumn sunshine, though I didn't take nearly enough photos this time

30.09.2025 18:55 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you check under the 'view' menu, I think there is an option to view disabled/hidden devices. Tick that, then see if the basic display adaptor shows - uninstall it if so. Then uninstall the driver for the actual card, and tick the box to delete the driver completely. Then reinstall the driver.

28.09.2025 13:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A colleague used an IR thermometer on a couple, and they were over 100Β°C on idle, with the fans running at 30% which is 'normal' in firmware. π₯΅ This was with the PC idling at a logon screen. You might be able to tell, but I'm not a fan of those cards! I've been burned (almost literally!)
27.09.2025 22:32 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ah, beware of these cards. Had 100s of those in Dell PCs with an extremely high failure rate. You'd get visual artefacts at first, then the PC's would lock up completely. I think it was down to bad thermal paste, and bad firmware that didn't spin the fans up when needed. Had to dispose of 100s! π
27.09.2025 22:29 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ah, I remember those cases, with the little ISA riser card! Would love to see more photos of it if you have any

27.09.2025 00:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Oh, it looked like 2 rows of pins from your first photo, which is what threw me. I think IBMs of that era might have used a similar 7 pin molex though, so maybe that was a pre-AT standard of sorts?
24.09.2025 21:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Such an unusual power connector - I thought everything used the AT style molex connectors, or variations of them? Was this motherboard from a server or some custom/embedded chassis by any chance?

Itβs not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.
This got me thinking about the Eurostar. When you go through security in St. Pancras, you immediately go through French passport control. Does that mean part of London is technically French? And, vice versa at Gare du Nord? π€
