An early screenshot of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade adventure game, from Game Player's PC Strategy Guide vol. 2 #4, September/October 1989. The screenshot in question shows an early version of the background used when Indy confronts Nazis face-to-face in the corridors of Castle Brunwald. The background is wider than in the final game, extending all the way to the edges of the screen, with the wooden beams holding up the ceiling moved outward accordingly. The floor and ceiling are still unfinished, and are depicted as solid expanses of dark gray. Indy is dressed in his regular outfit, but his stance is different than in the final game, as is that of the Nazi soldier he's facing. Indy is saying "Gestapo. Special investigations. I'm Guttman's successor." The apostrophe character used here is different as well, oriented like a descending single quotation mark.

An early screenshot of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade adventure game, from Game Player's PC Strategy Guide vol. 2 #4, September/October 1989. The screenshot shows Indy fistfighting a guard in Castle Brunwald. The background has bee finalized: there is a large black border around the edges of the screen, and the wooden timbers holding up the ceiling have been moved inward. The floor is now detailed as a complex arrangement of light gray stones in an irregular pattern, and the ceiling is shown to consist of more wooden beams. The apostrophe character is now a straight vertical line, as in the final game.

An early screenshot of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade adventure game, from Game Player's PC Strategy Guide vol. 2 #4, September/October 1989. Indy is standing in the Venice library near a stained glass window, facing left. His whip is visible on his sprite, being held in his right hand. Instead of the "Travel" verb, a "Fight" verb, which is green as if it might be used, appears in the GUI instead.

Indy is standing in the catacombs, by the hatch leading up from the room where he can find inscriptions talking about the Grail. Indy is facing right, but his sprite is a mirrored version of that in the previous screenshot, meaning he is now holding his whip in his left hand. The "Fight" verb is still in the GUI and apparently active in place of "Travel".

Check out the early Castle Brunwald corridor! And Indy claims to be "Guttman's successor", where in the final game that name was changed to "Dietrich" from Raiders.

I think that was always the plan. Felt more like you were exploring in a dark scary area. All the early screenshots were probably from a pre-Alpha version. Magazines had very long lead times so we had to give them what we had.

Senator Elizabeth Warren: Firing of BLS commissioner is 'dangerous' Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) joins CNBC's 'Squawk on the Street' to discuss her reaction President Trump's firing of BSL chief, whether Congress is able to take action, and much more.

Elizabeth Warren went to CNBC today and destroyed Donald Trump on the economy. Trump is trying to bury this appearance with a tantrum on his failing media site.

Make sure this goes viral instead.

Saw this cold, without watching any trailers, or peeking at the cast list. @anniefox.com and I LOVED the film, and were blown away when we watched the closing credits and saw a very familiar name there. Flawless film and performances. Must see.

Lucky you to have played on an Atari. Better frame rate than the C64 version because of the higher CPU clock rate. I hope you piped the sound through a big ass stereo system!

Yes, the second photo was from the manual. But this was the manual photo I was thinking of with Charlie Kellner, Loren Carpenter, David Levine, Peter Langston, @nfalstein.bsky.social and Gary Winnick.

AFAIK the original models were lost in a company move.
