Universal Health Coverage Day 2025 shines a spotlight on the devastating human impact of unaffordable health costs. One in four people face financial hardship when paying for health care out of their own pockets-often at the expense of basic needs such as food, education or housing. Health for all is a prerequisite for achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs). when governments prioritize to ensure people have access to affordable health care, they lay the groundwork for sustainable progress across all sectors.

The WHO Guideline for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infertility aims to improve the implementation of evidence-based interventions related to infertility. The provision of high-quality fertility care services is one of the core elements of reproductive health.

These recommendations are also presented in the guideline chapters, accompanied by explanations for the judgements, appropriate diagnostic flow charts and treatment algorithms.

The WHO guideline is the vehicle that helps the IFFS in its mission, Fertility rates are falling globally. IFFS has launched the #MoreJoy campaign to tackle this problem.

During the visit, IFFS President Dr. Marcos Horton toured the Nanjing Jiangsu Hospital and Maternity Care Center and IVF Unit alongside Professor Han Zhao and students, gaining firsthand perspectives on clinical practice and emerging technologies in reproductive medicine.

As one of China’s most influential reproductive medicine gatherings, the CSRM Annual Conference brings together global leaders to exchange insights, explore innovation, and shape the future of fertility care.

Dr. Horton also delivered a lecture on “Modern Strategies in the Management of Low-Prognosis Patients,” contributing IFFS expertise to international dialogue on improving patient outcomes.

World's first IVF baby backs fertility mission as global birth rates fall Louise Brown says she wants to help those who want to start a family as global birth rates fall.

Louise Brown, 47, from Bristol, was the first in the world to be born via in vitro fertilisation (IVF). Ms Brown is now working with the IFFS on their More Joy campaign, a movement pushing for affordable, fair and accessible fertility care globally.
