i don't like it either, but the idea that it's somehow unpopular or disliked is wild. definitely one of the most praised horror films of the last ten years!

i enjoyed skyfall too, but yeah the overwhelming majority of them are garbage and their popularity is baffling

it's just not that good or interesting. the idea of setting a film noir in a high school sounds cool on the surface, but it doesn't work because it effectively removes all of the things we actually like about film noir.

it blew my fucking mind to learn that, not only does SE7EN NOT take place in new york city, it was filmed in LOS ANGELES

BLACK PHONE 2 was shockingly good, better than the original, an ideal sequel and an absolute sensory DELIGHT. strongly influenced by the opening credits to SE7EN.

other random weezer-sugar ray trivia is that rivers wrote "love is the answer" for sugar ray and gave it to them to record, only to for weezer to record it themselves years later. both of them have it on one of their albums and incredibly, the sugar ray version is better.

my gut says it's not generational, just a difference in how much (or perhaps how) people love movies. but, i also suspect gen z might not have as strong a connection to the cinema as previous generations, so that could play a role. i'm a millennial and i love going to the pictures!

i don't like movies where all of the characters just mope around sadly while not doing much, and i really don't like country music, so THE LAST PICTURE SHOW was always going to be an uphill battle for me.
