Last chance (for now) was this past Wednesday night. We’re currently in the process of breaking everything down and putting it all into storage (or selling it off) until we find another permanent venue.

The WNFC dojo was one of the most wonderful places to see come to be and as such a sad thing to see go. That said? What a wonderful swan song for it, couldn’t of asked for better. Here’s to the future of WNFC and the Vermont FGC

Because we’ve been doing something much different than every other fighting game community scene, not just nationwide, but *worldwide.* We initiated an experiment that yielded genuinely beautiful results, something that the world could certainly use more of, especially right now.

As such, WNFC and @wnfcdojo.bsky.social will be going into low-power mode for the next few months or so, and during that time, we’ll be restructuring precisely what it is we offer, how it is we can offer it, and what it is we can continue doing to best support the community we’ve built.

And if we couldn’t provide a substantially better value for families and attendees than every other option available in the local area, the prevailing wisdom was to not abandon our core ethos to stay alive in our current form.

We decided to do what all fighting game players do: adapt.

We found ourselves facing a dilemma: do we raise prices on everything and diminish the value we presented compared to other activities and programs in the area (as we were cheaper overall than just about every local afterschool program and extracurricular activity), or do we close our doors?

Sadly, we’re subject to the same whims of fate everything else is, and with the costs of everything rising, our revolutionary little project has found itself priced out of existence. Unfortunately, we can’t continue to provide the programs we have at the low price points we’ve maintained.

We accomplished so much in so little time, & we’re proud to have had the feedback of parents & caregivers that have expressed how we’ve changed their kids’ lives for the better. Our adult community has also been fiercely supportive and dedicated to furthering our cause of an inclusive space for all.

For the last 2.5 years, we’ve been the primary focal point for the VT FGC, & the dojo has not only been a weekly locals venue, but a daily afterschool program built to teach kids how to tolerate adversity, how to problem solve through setbacks & failures, positive interaction with others, & more.

If you’re living in or near the Chittenden County / Burlington area of Vermont, and you enjoy fighting games (or video game history), then this Wednesday night is YOUR LAST CHANCE to experience one of the largest repositories of fighting game history on the planet.

We spent our Father’s Day Saturday bringing the fun to the Saturday Dads & Kids Play gaming event @ Dad Guild in Burlington!

Tonight begins the end (for now).

From 5pm-Midnight, $10 gets you in for all night play on the largest collection of fighting games in the American northeast.

The dojo closes its doors for good on 6/30, so tonight & next Wed. (6/18) are your final days to slap buttons with us (for now).

Parrying is only good when it:

1.) Requires tight (not impossible) timing

2.) Is simple enough for anyone to use without significant difficulty

3.) Is strong, but not all-powerful

4.) Offers obvious benefit, but disadvantageous if used incorrectly

Can’t help but feel this take is a massive misread focused solely through the lens of entirely subjective bias.

It smacks of looking for something easy to blame, and if you knew the Japanese developer mindset, you’d know that by and large, they don’t give a damn what westerners think.

still no word on why one of the most positive forces on fighting game bsky got suspended for *BEING HARASSED* by a literal sexual predator

@yeetkunedo.bsky.social had his ability to report disabled on the backend and then had the system used against him

The funniest thing about being a soccer guy is seeing this and then noting that all the reactions are from fighting game players due to his recent cameo in an SNK game

Which is also a sign of how washed he is

Hot take perhaps, but any future CvS3 should stay somewhat more grounded, because while that would cause the game to be somewhat less dynamic in roster options, it allows for VS games to maintain their own unique identity instead of homogenizing the “Capcom versus” franchise into a single flavor.
