The thing they don’t understand about drawing NSFW is that it’s a roleplay with yourself. It’s an expression of your ideas and fantasies, made entirely by you, in a way that can’t hurt anybody. Needing the characters to consent is ludicrous: I’m the artist and *I* consent. I’m the only participant.

Ultimately, when people with power say "violence is unacceptable" - they mean "violence against us is unacceptable", nothing more, nothing less. It foregoes that violence for those with power tends to come from greed, and violence against them tends to come from need.

A traditional marker drawing of Red Guardian / Alexei Shostakov from Marvel, particularly the Marvel Cinematic Universe version portrayed by David Harbour. It’s a headshot of him in a pink sweater, smiling largely with his eyes closed. The color palette is rainbow.

"A couple times now, I’ve talked about gameplay and Game Overs in terms of tension and release, a concept borrowed from music, but that came to me through the culture of BDSM, another realm of various forms of ‘play’ which benefit when their participants are conscious of the interplay between the two. Experience teaches that a moment of pleasurable sensation can be stretched across an entire experience with the proper cultivation of tension. A strike from a flogger lasts a split-second, smarts for only a few more, and benefits little from repetition except at the highest levels of intensity, but by taking time to build anticipation, caressing the skin to awaken the nerves, teasing with false hits, whispering promises of what is to come, you can intensify this brief instant of sensation, turning it into a broader, more all-consuming sensual whole, and I believe understanding this way of guiding, enticing, and cultivating another person’s sensations is just as relevant to someone engaging in sadomasochism as it is to someone engaged in game design. Speaking for myself, I’m not certain whether my obsession with Game Overs is to thank for making me a better domme, but certainly a more mindful and attentive one!

Continuing this line of analysis, if I permit myself to be fully immersed in a game, then I am permitting myself to be puppeteered by it. I am embodying a version of myself stripped of my own ego, my movements, words, and choices all disciplined by the design of the game itself, a sort of automaton made up of the sum total of its creators’ creative and technical decisions. This is what forms the boundaries of possibility within a game, boundaries enforced on me, ultimately, by other people who I am relinquishing some measure of my own self-control and agency to. If analyzed through this BDSM lens, to play a game is to engage in a sort of power exchange with its developers which is where I believe the latent erotic potential of Game Over is derived from. I mean,

Today on the blog, we have @mogsk.bsky.social's essay for AAA3, "Bad End: The Seduction Of 'Game Over'"! One thing I can promise you is that this is the best writing that currently exists about Eroticized Failure States, and that's a Fact

I tend to use comedy and erotica as a vehicle to sneak in pain and tenderness? Maybe as armour that falls off piece by piece? It might be bc I find it difficult to access sadness so my characters do it for me, but also I write to hurt others, too—gives me a sense of connection w a potential reader.

the world is full of people and it's fucking crazy to cut so many of them out of your life, your future, your vision. how good is your art if you can't draw some god damned fat people. how good is your writing if fat people don't feature, if you have no idea how to describe them. bores me to tears

I read stories to experience someone else’s derangement. AI doesn’t give me that. Where’s the author’s thinly veiled obsession or fetish, I NEED IT

Me! Holding a paperback edition of Slavoj Žižek presents Robespierre Virtue and Terror

A quote from the book: But there do exist, I can assure you, souls that are feeling and pure; it exists, that tender, imperious and irresistible passion, the torment and delight of magnanimous hearts; that deep horror of tyranny, that compassionate zeal for the oppressed, that sacred love for the home-land, that even more sublime and holy love for humanity, without which a great revolution is just a noisy crime that destroys another crime; it does exist, that generous ambition to establish here on earth the world's first Republic.

An illustration where an incandescent sun is at the center and surrounded like the iris of an eye with the ‘dark sign’ a thin strip of fire. Pale demons with sharp wings and coiling tails fly in the sky. In the distance rising up toward the sun is the kingdom of Anor Londo. Reaching up toward the sun with their back to the viewer is the standard knight in the game you play as.

you cannot defend artists if you can only count the ones that you yourself like. it is completely and totally hypocritical.

i mean, it’s 100% self-created self-expression—as in i’ve found the exact same people who criticise “bad” fandom writers are simultaneously much more rightfully concerned about the rise of those who call themselves artists when all they’ve done is generate a piece via ai.
