Dear god, please no. "Uncontroversial" i.e. status quo is always presented as de facto more electable but there's not actually any reason to believe that to be true. What we do know is that if it is true, we get the status quo. And we simply can't afford that another minute longer.

No better way to prove you have power than to do blatantly hypocritical things, use the language of ethics to abuse others all while enacting the actual cruelty you claim to abhor...and then to have it go unchallenged.

Currently, Indigenous people are housed in the ICE facility in Minnesota. We want to make it clear that this isn’t isolated to Minnesota, nationwide indigenous people are being harassed if not outright targeted by ICE operations. We need to be more vocal about these issues!

Is there a list I can follow of videos of ICE falling on its face or otherwise getting humiliated? Because right now that is sustaining me. Relatedly, I wonder what would happen if crowds of protesters just laughed loudly and prolonged in response to everything ICE did.

Totally. I've been trying to get the willpower to call and leave a message about abolishing ICE again, but when you have a representative who is this callous, evil, and clearly disinterested in listening to her constituents (all the way down to closing offices), it's hard to feel it's worth my time.

I've seen many faculty/staff/admin in higher education act like what's happening just requires some tweaks or pivots and that everything will eventually return to normal. It won't.

You can't pivot from extortion, hostile takeovers, fascism, spineless leadership, lack of fight, or lack of integrity.

The list of things we are supposed to quit grows longer every day:

Milk
Driving
Napping
Carbs

The only replacements being offered are weed, pharmaceutical and xenophobia/racism.
