People who don't look at their WhatsApp for three hours when you're on a manic episode are a menace.

Do you have a "process" for visualising the dark spaces and black ink? When I draw like this (not as well as you obv) I struggle to get the balance between the white space and the dark blocks.

That is astonishingly beautiful. I have an ebony guitar bridge to make in the not-too-distant. I may give that technique a try.

Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientistโ€”because the person felt she did didnโ€™t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeareโ€™s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

While waiting for an international bank transfer to clear I'm researching how the UK stacks up against the rest of the world in workplace deaths for a one-line throw away quip in a comic script I'm writing

How's your day?

Just about to get the final sign-off for the latest audiobook - a psychic horror story set in the close confines of a Royal Navy frigate

Just submitted an audition for the next - a compendium of short stories about The Phantom of the Opera

And so the cycle goes...

DOCTOR: I told him he needed to get out to a show, that was how he would cure his depression.

CHOTINER: So you learned this technique in school?

DR: No, notโ€” listen it was good advice. Pagliacci was in town.

C: Right. Is it standard to give advice before learning a patientโ€™s name?

DR: Now look

A readerโ€˜s letter in the times which reads as follows:

Old adversaries
Sir, Your obituary (Jan 19) of Mr Justice Blofeld rightly referred to his fine sense of humour. When he first sat in Winchester a barrister called Richard Bond stood up to open the first case. Mr Justice Blofeld began to stroke the white ermine on the sleeve of his High Court judge's robes as if stroking a cat. He then said with a smile: "We meet at last, Mr Bond."

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.

I would add that we mock people who dare to hope or heaven forbid trust anyone or anything
