I am very lyrics-first. And there are absolutely only two types of people. Lyrics-first and music-first. And they mate with each other and fight over the aux forever.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

A collage of five images, three of which are on the top and two of which are on the bottom. The photos are of, in order: Sean Dunn (the guy who threw a sandwich at an ICE agent), the Master Debater (ultimate debate chad), the guy who taunted ICE on an e-bike in Chicago and got away, the guy who punched Richard Spencer in the face on January 20, 2017, and our most recent hero who punched the guy trying to cause a ruckus at a high school by supporting ICE.

Each of the photos are of them in their β€œaction shots,” if you will. Dunn is in the act of throwing the sandwich, Master Debater is in the midst of saying he would have both to some trolls question about whether he would have economic growth or gender equality, the e-bike guy is in the midst of taunting an ICE agent and biking away, the Richard Spencer puncher is seen right at the moment of making contact with his face, and our latest hero is clasping his hands together and saying β€œokay” after the troll said he would get in trouble if he punched him in the face.

While I agree w all the practical and political objections to the SAVE Act, I actually believe those are secondary and miss the primary objection:
There is NO EVIDENCE of non-citizens voting in federal elections: 77-85 cases between 1999-2023.
There is NEITHER NEED nor JUSTIFICATION for a law

Epstein-Barr, herpes, and shingles vaccines shelved should get people hounded out of society. That’s beyond anti-vaccine or anti-intellectualism. It’s reactionary know-nothingism. If there’s such a thing as technological solutionism, this is tech problematicizing.

This is hell.

FYI Covid infections can re-activate the Epstein barr virus in the body (most of us have been exposed). The virus is mostly associated with Mononucleosis (the kissing disease) it's also linked to chronic fatigue syndrome. They want us sick and unable to function

In a normal government, this results in the resignation of multiple cabinet officials (Transportation, Defense, and Homeland Security), and the closure or (at least!) radical reorg of the cartoonishly incompetent agency at the center of it: CBP.

Trump administration is sending pregnant migrant girls to South Texas shelter flagged as medically inadequate Government sources and advocates for the children worry the goal is to concentrate them in Texas, where abortion is banned.

The Trump administration is incarcerating migrant girls in, essentially, a forced pregnancy camp.

it feels like every day there is something that would normally be a massive scandal except there are so many that almost everyone is just ground to dust mentally trying to either understand what to do next, calling representatives, or go back to sending and answering emails that feel pointless

'expanding access to the Supreme Court--' in no way, shape, or form does using AI to make shit up constitute access! plus we could just put cameras in the courtroom and actually have video of the justices reading their decisions! aaahhh!

Could anti trans MAGA people kindly shut up about the Tumbler Ridge shooting?

Canada doesn’t have regular mass shootings. We handle them differently than the US.

Stop using it to push a political agenda.

Stop using it to punch down on an entire group of marginalized people.

I've seen a lot of cases, and I have to confess this one is very very bad from what I have seen. Marimar Martinez, from what. can tell, really was almost executed by CBP agents who tried to cover it up and showed that they did not care about her life at all.

I believe that there are characteristics of structural change and AI, as yet, does not have them.

I also believe that refusal opens up smart people to conceive of what *is* happening and not what capital *wants* to happen.

They are dismissed as hysterical or non-expert or irrationally cautious.

Then you wake up one day and Peter Theil and Elon Musk own your water and your attention and your political process.

Then the men emerge to tell us what women told us a decade before.

I fear that men are about to do what men do. They are about to characterize any sober thinking about power as non-technical and therefore unserious.

We have seen this pattern over and over again in tech criticism. Women and people of color repeatedly lead on understanding tech changes.

No one has seriously said LLMs aren’t important or that AI is categorically junk.

Some of us have said that there is something bigger than tech. It’s called power β€” governance, civic norms, etc β€” & refusal is absolutely part of how we think soberly about that power. Who has it & how they use it.

Every sane person in the world: β€œThese victims deserve justice for what they endured at the hands of Epstein and other dangerous people!”

AG Pam Bondi: β€œTHE DOW IS OVER 50,000 RIGHT NOW!”

This is absolutely terrifying.

A Reuters photographer captured this image of a page from Pam Bondi's "burn book," which she used to counter any questions from Democratic lawmakers during an unhinged hearing today.

It looks like the DOJ monitored members of Congress’s searches of the unredacted Epstein files.

Just wow.
