Carbon burial in sediments below seaweed farms matches that of Blue Carbon habitats - Nature Climate Change To understand the potential for seaweed as a Blue Carbon strategy, the authors quantify carbon burial under 20 globally distributed seaweed farms. They attribute an average of 1.06 ± 0.74 tCO2e ha−1 y...

Mediterranean seagrasses provide essential coastal protection under climate change - Scientific Reports Scientific Reports - Mediterranean seagrasses provide essential coastal protection under climate change

Check our new paper reporting that Mediterranean seagrasses provide essential coastal protection under climate change.

Bottom line: Seagrass loss may double the risk of coastal flooding with rising sea levels.

My first OAE experiment looked into how alkaline sources, olivine and slag, affected a juvenile kelp. A lot more olivine than slag was needed to increase the same amount of alkalinity. Olivine also made the water more turbid. Early results indicate growth was not affected by minerals.
