Prayers for Kirk. Political violence is like this is indefensible.

I share your concern. The response to this will be considerate. The erosion of liberty will accelerate.

And the more we tumble towards anocracy the likelihood of political civil violence increases.

It’s sleight of hand. The significant charge isn’t genocide. It’s ethnic cleansing.

It’s the forced resettlement of a population. Making it Gazan-free.

An openly stated goal. Illegal and immoral.

Hold it in reserve in case you are sued?

Is it possible they are holding the image in reserve in case they are sued?

It isn’t outrage. It’s weakness. It’s fear expressed as anger.

Trump’s VA and tariff cuts left them grieving and strugglingβ€”all at once.

Can confirm. Naya ran out of falafel by 1:30 pm. Jean-Georges has an open reservation for two at 8:00 pm TONIGHT.

Pray for the city.

When a mob was barreling down on him, Michael Fanone stood strong to defend our country. Fanone embodies the American spirit of bravery.

While elites hide and kiss up to Trump, be like Mike β€” be brave.

Michael Fanone defended our Capitol on January 6. He showed his bravery.

Now, it’s time for us to do the same.

(Again, me just being a guy online talking with limited knowledge. But fun to discuss these issues.)

Thanks for the back and forth.

The β€œstore of value” idea may have a time element.

Nothing is forever.

But over short enough time frames there is stability. Not true for investments.

My friends know β€œnothing is forever”. But over the timeframes of concern they have confidence…

I’m just an armchair observer. The three part definition I got from a Milton Friedman book decades ago.

Gentle push-back question: I have friends who keep their life-savings in cash in their home. They consider it a store of value.

The old saw of β€œkeeping money in a mattress”.

Currency is a store of value, a unit of exchange, and a medium of exchange.

Not a great medium. Can’t use crypto to buy a sandwich at my corner deli.

Unit of exchange doesn’t feel right either. Not stable enough.

And given losses in the crypto market, not a great store of value either.

Understood. So even the underlying premise is a bit shaky.

Crypto is referred to as β€œcurrency” but I don’t think it meets the definition. Now it’s treated more like an investment (like tulips).

20.06.2025 19:36 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

The idea that crypto has β€œscarcity” may be incorrect.

There is a difference between limited supply (crypto) and scarcity.

Scarcity means that there’s not enough to meet demand even if the price was free.

Anything can be currency if commonly accepted. Cigarettes in prison. Shells in earlier culture.

With crypto the thing is a digital record.

Limited supply supposedly creates value.

Anything can be currency if commonly accepted, even a digital signature.

Public key encryption (invented years ago) permits safe exchange of money. Blockchain (recent invention) allows individuals to connect without a third-party facilitator or regulator.

Crypto is a digital currency with an (artificial) limited supply that supposedly makes it valuable.

Morgan, love you. And we all have approaches that don’t land with every follower. Understood. You’re not here to make me happy - you’re here to do what’s right for you.

Just saying - every day I see this post I’m mildly annoyed. Repetition is dulling the impact for this fan…
