One of the reasons I so greatly dislike the “can men and women be friends?” nonsense (yes, full stop, shut up) is that it casts suspicion on people with opposite-sex friends instead of where it more often belongs: on people with no opposite-sex friends.

I feel like this is connected to the obnoxious sentiment of "this creator turning out to be bad (for moral reasons) vindicates my previous dislike of their work (for non-moral reasons)."

and I think the core of my discomfort is that it props up the idea that truly talented, worthwhile artists would never do such a thing. which just perpetuates the problem of not believing people who come forward with their stories because surely THAT good artist would not have done such a thing.

one thing that would be cool, when prominent creators turn out to be terrible people, would be if we didn't have to go through this performative dance of insisting that their work was never good in the first place.

they should make a movie series about how it’s irresponsible to use technology to mess with the natural order of things for profit

I think we don’t really need another show that does that thing right now. And SFA isn’t trying to be that. It’s its own thing. Which I respect.

A thing I like about Star Trek Academy is that it’s trying to be its own thing. It’s not trying to replicate the formula of The Senior Officers encounter an Alien of the Week (it’s cool that SNW does this really well, btw)

My building management sends people out to test and replace all the smoke alarms every year. Why is my smoke alarm chirping like it’s out of batteries, isn’t that the thing they do? What is the point of them coming if I am supposed to check that too?

I am currently at the tail end of one of the top 10 worst migraines of my life so I ripped open bag one thinking I would just put the minifigs together but it turns out only Dr Crusher is in bag #1 and the rest will be some kind of treasure hunt to find as I build each bag one at a time
