What if they just somehow find a new Woody? This is a stupid comparison-but then we'd be in Alien: Resurrection territory with how it's technically not the *same* character because the *other* one had a finished arc. That's the only way I can see it progressing, I think.

The Nuzlocke forums are still around?? I remember it being a great forum but I haven't checked it in about a decade! Idk how you can have a thorough history video without mentioning it! I recall it being such a fun and welcoming place in the mid-2010s!

The idea of smooshing all of the 3d mario games in some way into one movie's not a bad idea so I think at this point I'll just go into this new one trying to enjoy it for what it is.

Well- if I'm being honest w/ myself this is just consistent misogyny in fan spaces everywhere. "How dare a female character/creator be flawed or emotional" is something I hear in damn near every fanbase and it's wrong like every time lmao

I have a dumb rule that if I see big rants on a female character in a shonen manga being "irrational" or "stupid" or if there big diatribes on the author for writing flawed female characters, there's a high likelihood the development is a series high-point.

Back to the Future anniversary screening today. Always wanted to see this one in theatres since my initial Nick at Nite viewing in 2010 or so lol

My shift was cancelled today b/c of schedule restructuring and hiring new people so I can catch up on Otr of the Flame, AND go to the movies early!

Otr of the Flame has somehow survived cancellation up to now so I think I'll have to read more of it and possibly walk back any prescriptive statements I made about it depending on how interesting I find those 11 chapters before my shift today.

Opening and ending credits to any show is a part of any episode of tv's pacing, and it speaks to their staying power in the wider television landscape that I've known many people to go out of their way to re create them if absent as part of many a viewing experience. It's part of television dna!

Chou Chou's bit is a stretch of chapters I used to reread constantly back when I first read One Piece because it's such a tight and effective short story. I might prefer it to Syrup Village in its entirety if I'm honest with myself!

Looks like I've missed my chance to see One Battle After Another in theatres. Damn it. But I'm right on time to catch the Director's Cut of Rocky IV, apparently.

Again, you can't truly quantify the knock on effect Bugs Bunny selling Alpha-Bits and Tang to kids sixty years ago when animated shorts before movies went out of vouge would have on the way a medium is perceived but yeah. It's probably somewhere in that paradox lots of Gundam fans have w/ Gunpla.

It's hard to parse, but I dislike this form of bias towards a mainstream animation language that carries an "I'm smarter than this, it isn't worthy of *my* analysis" candor when a big thing resonates too widely. "The impossible problems solved in development are great- for kids." Man fuck you lol.

This does kind of dip into my opinion on how a lot of reviews of animated movies are framed too. Even if that's its own thing with its own legacy of social conditioning, I also wish there was more discussion around inflection points for the medium. Especially if the story or themes are flat or w/e.

You can't really explain the nuances of this away either, but it is kind of everywhere, and it makes me insane- especially when I've just spent a long time on a technical edit or cut of animation. But yeah, I wish more people respected the technical aspects, animation is incredibly hard to pull off!

It's not an unflattering insinuation, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me when I'm told I could turn right around and be fluent in an incredibly different and difficult skillset because of the bias the last 70 years of American animation marketing conditioned a generation into believing.

I try not to post about this *too* much but if you've worked in animated media of any kind then your job is always occasionally framed in a way where someone at some point will assume you'd be a great elementary school art teacher or babysitter, or what have you. Because animation=cartoons= kids.

It's fun to keep track of animation staff over time and see where similar techniques are utilized under different circumstances and contexts!

I think the funniest part of watching the animation at the climax of the Chainsaw Man movie was going "I remember this from Black Clover episode 63 & 83!" over and over again.

Also was that James Baxter animation at one point or did my eyes play tricks on me (they probably did)
