Some of my favorite rocks in all of #California. #DonnerSummit with #DonnerLake and the #trainTunnels. It's a place where I've spent a lot of time, mental and emotional energy and most recently helped out at the #DonnerPartyHike event.

A rock we picked up on a beach on the Île d’Oléron. The little French isle was littered with them. I think they are called Witch or Hag Stones and looking through the holes can reveal the true form of witches.

On a windy shore, near the Arctic Circle, we paused to look at the sheep, tucked in the rocks, under the table.

It wasn't until looking at the pictures later that we noticed the sea creature, hiding in plain view, made of shadow and light.

Fun but faint!

These slight marks in solid granite around #DonnerSummit were made by wagon wheels when that was a major mode of tranaport out to #California in the rush for gold.
