As a guitarist, AI is starting to remind me of this expensive guitar pedal I bought on a whim and used for a month and don’t really like it anymore but every couple weeks pull it out thinking I’ll get something I like from it, and just being disappointed but not wanting to sell it and admit failure.

As a guitarist - and as a web dev who's been begrudgingly voluntold by the higher-ups to add AI to their toolkit - this is a perfect analogy

Sounds like a major cultural difference. I live in a "red state", deeply conservative and surrounded by Trump-voting farmers. And it's not just my experience; this woman makes a succinct summary of her direct knowledge of farmers' motive here in the states: youtu.be/badGHJLDpP8

What it comes down to is, dems didn't offer to burn people that farmers have been told to hate. Farmers voted Trump knowing he'd start a trade war. They expected subsidies as bailouts while Trump "pwned the libs". They got half of what they wanted and they're largely okay with that.
