This confirms energy as a โcommon currencyโ linking individual behaviour to demographic outcomes.

An illustration of the data used in this study and their relationships
We show that sea ice ๐ง drives individual energetics โก, while parental foraging effort predicts the population's reproductive success in Adรฉlie #penguins.

The front cover, by Benjamin Dupuis, French Polar Institute, shows an Adรฉlie penguin leaping from the water to return to its colony. @bendps.bsky.social & co report how depth tracking can estimate penguin energy use
Hey ! Would love to be added to the pack too :)

My first PhD chapter just got published in @jexpbiol.bsky.social ! We proposed a new framework to estimate foraging energetics โก of Adรฉlie ๐ง using TDRs. Our framework provided results similar to accelerometers and could likely be applicable on other diving predators ๐๐ฆ
