Elderly nanny arrested in S.F. by immigration agents is ordered released The San Francisco Rapid Response Network said an "elderly nanny" was arrested by immigration agents "on her way to work" Friday.

ICE has no boundaries β€” today, wearing their masks in Diamond Heights, they grabbed an elderly nanny who’s here legally.

A judge has ordered her release.

This is why the work we do to ban these masks & authorize people to sue agents who violate their rights is so important.

they did, in fact, take decisive action. in the midst of these hearings congress passed the third enforcement act, called the Ku Klux Klan Act. the grant administration used that authority to virtually eliminate the klan, which did not resurface for another 50 years.

we should want to make it undeniable that there is no choice but to end ICE, prosecute its officers for lawbreaking, and fundamentally rethink immigration enforcement.

this is all to say that should democrats win the house and senate this november, they should hold similarly dramatic β€”Β which is to say televised and highly publicized β€”Β hearings on the conduct of ICE and CBP, with testimony from victims. we want as much of *this* as possible in the record. this wasn't just fact-finding, it was a form of what @joshchafetz.bsky.social calls "congressional overspeech." the testimony from black americans was dramatic and divisive. it captured the attention of the public and helped build support for aggressive action against the klan (2/?)

over the course of 1871, congress held seven months of hearings on ku klux klan and other white vigilante violence in the south, they took detailed testimony from hundreds of black men and women attesting to klan terror. (1/?)

The problem with allowing guns everywhere is that no one is safe anywhere.

The President cannot commandeer any local law enforcement.
The President does not run the Smithsonian.
The monthly BLS jobs report is required by law.
Release the Epstein files.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Even crazier - I have seen 1 star Yelp reviews from people who were angry that they were told not to bring outside food.

As a Gen X member, I wonder if the embrace of Trump is a reaction to Reagan (free trade, embrace of America as superpower, intense distrust of Russia as some of the hallmarks of the 1980’s) since Trump’s political and economic moves are the opposite. Trump even dumped on Reagan in the first primary

We support the right of people to advance their interests in courts of law when they have been wronged. We reject the notion that the U.S. government can punish lawyers and law firms who represent certain clients or punish judges who rule certain ways. We cannot accept government actions that seek to twist the scales of justice in this manner.
We reject efforts to undermine the courts and the profession. We will not stay silent in the face of efforts to remake the legal profession into something that rewards those who agree with the government and punishes those who do not. Words and actions matter. And the intimidating words and actions we have heard and seen must end. They are designed to cow our country’s judges, our country’s courts and our legal profession.
There are clear choices facing our profession. We can choose to remain silent and allow these acts to continue or we can stand for the rule of law and the values we hold dear. We call upon the entire profession, including lawyers in private practice from Main Street to Wall Street, as well as those in corporations and who serve in elected positions, to speak out against intimidation.

Do you know who this is? A civil rights protester?

No. It’s C.B. King, a civil rights LAWYER who was clubbed over the head by a local sheriff when King arrived at jail to check on his client - a white civil rights protester. He continued his work & influenced a generation.

Lawyers under pressure?
