I'm glossing over the darker/sadder undertones in some of Lindgren's other work a bit, but The Brothers Lionheart still feels like a standout.

I mostly ramble about trivial nerd stuff, but I'm also on a Bluesky list for "angry politics." My politics are that bigots should fall into a deep, empty well. He/Him. Pfp: Guybrush Threepwood falling down against a blue sky. Banner: Guybrush flying.

20.02.2026 23:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've felt *baffled* by a certain kind of bad movie, coming out of the theater, just trying to work out how it went so wrong in such particular ways, and thinking about it for days and weeks and years. The David Harbour Hellboy is one. Just a series of inexplicable choices.
18.02.2026 22:31 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Look, I would've noped out on a game that knowingly and insistently hired an actor guilty of sexual assault, no matter how excited I otherwise was about it, but it is nice of RGG Studios to wait until a remake to go mask off. Yakuza Kiwami 3 is no great sacrifice.

And here are 2 brothers who die, go on to another realm where a lot of horrible shit happens, and then they kill themselves again to maybe get to a better afterlife
Finally got around to watching this by @themorbidzoo.bsky.social, and it's great and incisive. Unfortunately I also made the mistake of switching comments to "Newest" out of morbid (no pun intended) curiosity, and, oh boy, so many conspiracy theorists going "EPSTEIN FILES! I AM VINDICATED!"

That movie wasn't Army of Darkness. It was Evil Dead 2. He'd gotten it mixed up. I was borderline traumatized.
The dark (darker?) side of Rule 34.
He should be cursed to never shit again for the rest of his life, which won't last terribly long before the constipation becomes fatal.
The thing that gets me - besides... every single thing about it - is that it HAS to be a hostile, spiteful act. Like, even monstrous laziness and insensitivity and lack of hygiene isn't a workable explanation; it's objectively a lot more work than just shitting in the toilet.
20.02.2026 20:52 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In terms of sheer laughs, the third series will always be my favorite, but Goes Forth is probably peak achievement of the show.

Fun stuff! Also that dragon fucked me up as a kid.
Took a philosophy elective in my senior year, and our teacher showed us Life of Brian, saying it was relevant material as an examination of religion and dogma. Otherwise, I think mainly Scandinavian children's movies. I've been traumatized by The Brothers Lionheart more times than I can count.

I think his argument is a strawman, doesn't align with his own actions and delegitimizes important political actions we need to make in order to build a better cyberphysical world.
The lesson from the "Tom Cruise/Brad Pitt AI Video" reveal is twofold, old, and evergreen:
1) Slow Down
and 2) always start from the ground position that any claims made by an "AI" corporationβ any for-profit corporation, reallyβ is them lying to you to hype their product.

A pixel art rendition of the great A'Tuin, a planet-sized turtle carrying the Discworld atop its back.
A cabal of sitting grey-robed figures conducting a mystical ceremony
The title screen for Discworld released on PC and consoles showing Rincewind swooping away on the Luggage with Death clinging onto it
a 2D rendition of Rincewind's room where he's just woken up and looking wistfully at his bed. "I really must do some heavy research into this bed."
"In a distant and secondhand set of dimensions..."
For game-playing Discworld fans in 1995, this was a dream come true.
A point-and-click adventure voiced expertly by BBC comedy and radio stalwarts. Plenty of moon logic but also all the charm and humour you could shake a sausage-inna-bun at.
My jack-of-all-digital-trades wife has been struggling to find a job after she quit her last one because of toxic work environment, and she's finally resorted to lying on her CV.
She retched as she wrote in "Proficient in AI tools"
I mean, she *would* be proficient, bc it takes no brains.

It's a narrative-driven sci-fi adventure game, it reminds me of Deliver Us the Moon/Mars, so it's a game for me π

I genuinely don't think I've ever been MAD going out of a movie theater. If a movie was just a real trash fire, I just feel kind of down and bleugh.
That said, I've only watched BvS once, at home, through questionable means, and I might have felt even worse about it if I'd paid for the experience.
Remembering when Amanda Palmer was like "Trump's going to be great for art because creativity thrives under suffering"
I'm paraphrasing; I'm not searching out and exposing my brain to that shit again
