We haven’t gotten much skiing in this year because of the brutal weekend cold. But here for the warmth! It should still be cold enough in states north that the season will last.

The expensive chairs have never been good for me. I’ve suffered ever since having low back spinal surgery 20 years ago. The one chair that’s been great? IKEA’s “Markus”. Way better than Herman Miller (for me)—and I could tell in ten seconds of sitting in it.

Bunch of coworkers have dealt with that recently. One had to shift to a hotel as well it was caused by an underground fire! But got sorted out before too long.

My children are playing Minecraft on iPads as the Super Bowl is on TV, and repeatedly asking “wait, what happened?” without even looking up.

My youngest asked me this week why the dogs were peeing so much on the walk route to school. I pointed out that the dogs ALWAYS pee, but she can’t normally see it. Eyes wide moment.

Co-worker’s entire apartment building lost power, just as we’re heading into negative temps Fahrenheit tonight. Real bad time to not have heat.

I figured that was part of why schools were cancelled today. They knew they couldn't clear streets and sidewalks sufficiently due to exhaustion. Also the sidewalk requirement isn't until the end of the day today, so residents couldn't be counted on either.

Schools cancelled for a second day tomorrow. First time I recall that happening from snow. Though honestly I didn't pay attention too closely to school cancellations as an adult before I had kids...

With a beautiful snowy landscape, the kids home from a no-school day, most of my team (in India) out on a holiday--it's tough to focus on work today. At least I got to WFH!

I'm used to snow plows filling back in the driveway after digging it out--lots of snow goes into the open spot. I'm not used to snow plows filling in the SIDEWALK I already dug out. The snow was high enough it just tumbled over? A real pain since the city will ticket US for not clearing it on time.

10yo, upon seeing the snow fallen up to the height of the table on our deck, exclaimed “why did it stop snowing?!?”. 🙄

The blue jays are LOVING the bird seed I put out this morning. Hopefully enough food to help them through this storm and ongoing deep cold.
