This is a great example of what we do at Compassion in Dying - find practical solutions to help people navigate decisions when they're not being listened to.

We see lots of examples that show how policy is good but the gap between that and practice can be vast.

This is such an important point. We can't 'sort' dying just by investing in services (important though that is). We need to invest in community: its understanding, choices and agency.

We need to make sure what comes out of the 10 year plan for end of life care includes a new focus on listening to and foregrounding the wishes of people.

National Voices’ Next Generation Network National Voices’ Next Generation Network events are aimed at early career policy, communications and engagement professionals with an interest in health, care, and addressing inequalities.

In 2023 my lovely former colleague, Pavi Brar, & I identified a gap – there was no space for those beginning their career in the VCSE sector to meet & grow together.

This acted as the catalyst for @nationalvoices.bsky.social's Next Generation Network.

Current health spending for people in their last year of life is disproportionately distributed towards hospital care rather than primary and community care services.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. We need both.
