This is only a half thought out idea but if there was a way to combine Berkeley and Chapel Hill, it might be my personal paradise.

A UNC-Cal football game is the ultimate battle of "schools that would be much better at football if people who were at those schools 70 years ago had cared about football."

For the first time in ~30 years, there can be legitimate debate about who the greatest baseball player anyone alive has ever seen is.

In our non-DEI meritocracy, Larry Ellison's son bought CBS so that Bari Weiss could then put her sister on air.

It's very interesting for someone to say something like this a few days after that Chatfishing article in the Guardian was published.

Ok. I just started reading this. And then I got to the pictures of the people making these comments.

Y'all. Y'ALL.

How. Dare. They.

I reached the same destination taking a different route. I liked and respected Stevie and Marvin and Al. But I still thought of them as artists for a previous era.

Then D'Angelo and Erykah and Amel and Jill showed me that it could be MY music too (and in turn helped me appreciate the older music).

To be clear: these are the exact same folks who have been doxxing & putting people on must-fire lists for simply posting innocuous Charlie Kirk comments…

As 32-year-old Rich points out, though, "it's not like using ChatGPT guarantees success".
When he met someone in a bar one Friday night and swapped social media handles, he asked AI what his next move should be.
ChatGPT discerned that sending an initial message on Monday midmorning would set the right pace. "Then it gave me some options for what the message could be," says Rich.
"Keep it light, warm, and low-stakes so it reads as genuine interest without urgency," the bot advised. "Something like: Hey Sarah, still laughing about [tiny shared moment/reference if you've got one] - good to meet you!" Rich went back and forth with ChatGPT until he felt they'd hit upon exactly the right message ("Hey Sarah, it was lovely to meet you") but sadly she never replied, he says. "It's been two weeks now."

I actually don't think it's that strange. Or at least it's not unusual. The clearest example is the multitude of industries that surround college sports.

But whether consciously or subconsciously, many people understand that universities help shape society and react accordingly.

Dolly Parton has been a good person all her life. She does so many kind things for people. Compare that to someone like JK Rowling who wakes up every day and decides to be an absolute asshole.

Belichick's communication with his staff in the past two weeks has been described as "weird" and "distant" by multiple members of UNC's coaching staff. Multiple coaches were unable to get hold of him during UNC's bye week

And, of course, there's the fact that Weiss changed the lyrics. The line from Hamilton is "Immigrants. WE get the job done." It's inclusionary. By changing it to "they" Weiss reinforced the perpetual othering that so many Americans of Asian descent constantly have to deal with.
