I'm trying to work out if they're arguing in bad faith or just haven't coherently worked out what they mean before starting to post. But they get so aggressive about their incoherent argument being above reproach that it hardly matters

A thing you can do because free speech but it isn't cool at all is to pompously declare that you can't see what everyone is upset about and then sneer at anyone who tries to explain. I would not recommend this course of action but it seems popular with a certain type of person

Another thing you can do that is slightly less cool but still reasonable is say "I'm not sure I understand the issue here, can somebody point me to a good explanation?"

Here's a cool thing you can do if you don't understand why people are upset about something: you can read what they're saying about why they're upset and you can refrain from saying anything until you've finished reading
