Cork like. Artist, Historian, chef, retired and broken from rugby, occasional talking head on TV mainly about Gráinne Ní Mháille. Dilettante extraordinaire. Not fond of humans. Dog rescuer. PWD, GNC, nearing OAP, proudly Socialist, and absolutely Queer.

It makes about as much sense as the 'Gardaí blocked Connolly from employing an ex con who was being signed into Leinster Hse to do the job she was blocked from because she hadn't yet been vetted to get the key to access Leinster Hse to do the job she was blocked from' timeline.

"Unpaid carers are predominantly women, which might go some way to explaining why their contributions are ignored." Catherine Connolly speaking out following yesterday's budget on the continuation of the means test for carers, and the unfulfilled promise of a cost of disability payment.

They were not 'in Gaza', they were in International Waters on the way to the State of Palestine. A country Ireland recognises.

And the Irish govt did feck all to help them. As Sarah Clancy made abundantly clear.

"The garda press office said it doesn’t comment on 'security and vetting matters relating to individuals or locations'.... but if ye meet us in the canteen at the table reserved for 'multiple sources' we can have a chat over a latte and a pastry."

This backs up Connolly's version that Ní Shionnáin was employed and waiting for vetting.

Which turns out was for an access key. Not a job.

But adds more questions - since Ní Shionnáin had left before the vetting was completed what did the superintendent of the Oireachtas have to decide?

You certainly embraced hectoring, lecturing, exceptionalism, and myopia as far as the rest of the world is concerned.
Which is pretty on point for Americans.
And no one said you 'embraced' fascism, it was pointed out fascism has existed outside the US for 100 years, and is a tool in US imperialism.

Perhaps one day Americans like you will manage to take ownership of the legacy you have created all by yourselves, become mature enough to realise there's a world out there that has real reason to hate your policies, and stop acting like you are exceptional.

Until that day ye are fucked.

In Spain the democratically elected govt was overthrown by a fascist coup - Heard of Picasso? Look at his work Guernica.

Wanna talk about what your tax dollars and your governments have been doing in Gaza for decades?
Wanna look a Palestinian in the eye and tell then how hard it is in the USA?

WE HAVE BEEN THERE!

Would you, for your own sake, take your head out of your insular arse and learn about the world.
Europe was torn apart by fascism. And it's rising again. Millions died - perhaps even you have heard of the Holocaust?
People were dropped alive out of planes in Argentina.

Pirates kidnap Irish citizens in international waters.

Irish government does absolutely nothing.

Failure on primary duty.

You did.
But Pascal listens only to a very specific kind of business person. And 'arts and crafts' as he sneeringly called a vital sector ain't included.

If the pissed off in the FF parliamentary party 'stood up' for workers, pensioners, people with disabilities and voted against the budget they would look like they give a shit, trigger a GE, and Martin would also fall.

Just saying...

Because we know they won't.

The level of incompetence is frankly insulting.

Time for the press to mention Ní Shionnáin again me thinks. Or Clare Daly.

No chance they'll mention data protection concerns.

You tell him!
It's amazing how a sector with a TD at the helm can get preferential treatment but others can't.

Ye get patronised.

I don't give a flying fuck about America.
You are dealing with problems entirely of your own creation while the Palestinians are dealing with problems also of your creation, as many countries have for decades.

Grow up and read some global history.

Even for an American you are insular and historically illiterate.

No one in Europe could possibly know what fascism feels like.
No one in Ireland could understand what armed troops on your streets feels like.
No one in South America knows about fascist coups (US sponsored at that).

Listening to Donohoe and Chambers they are incapable of understanding people are struggling.
And impervious to the idea that investing in people directly so they have a disposable income will benefit businesses.
People can't afford to buy homes- so govt cuts into their nett pay 🙄

He's incapable of not being patronising.
I think he genuinely believes he 'understands' and has no idea how people on less than a ministers salary plus generous expenses struggle.

"Targeted interventions" my hole.
I do think Pascal has thrown FF under the bus here by laying the SW fury firmly on FF's door, and Empty Chambers is incapable of stopping him.
Pascal telling us 'he understands' is his usual plámas and the caller is calling him out on it.

History of the world isn't your strong suit is it?

Class warfare eh?
Inequality?
Well I never.
Imagine that happening.
Whatever would we do?
Do you think the Peasants would revolt?
Perhaps write a charter of reforms and demands?
March on our capital cities?
Burn the big houses?

For seasoned govt/media watchers, it was obvious this was going to be a feel bad budget.
But even I'm surprised at how much Ebenezer Donohoe screwed the 'people who get up early'.

I watched pretty much every broadcast on TV about the budget and on the whole we never got to hear any opposition bar Doherty.
Gibney finally had a say hours later, and she didn't hold back.
But remember, most TDs were only hearing the details for the first time in the Dáil.
