Can I let you in on a little secret?

Billionaire philanthropy isnโ€™t charity.

Itโ€™s PR to distract you from low wages, labor exploitation, and a tax system thatโ€™s rigged for the rich.

As a millennial who has spent most of her life in red states, Dems in these places are always asked to beg for scraps and be grateful if we get any representation at all. Itโ€™s so hopeful that we could have someone like Nate who isnโ€™t afraid to be bold and stand up for the people in Congress.

New ad dropped. Letโ€™s go! I'm running for Congress in Utah's 1st District to take on big corporations & the billionaires. To make housing & energy more affordable, fight for Medicare for All, protect our public lands, & to build a future for all of us.

Iโ€™ve been in Greece (mostly Athens, but also Meteora and the coast for a minute)! Coming home rejuvenated, appreciative, and with a clearer head ๐ŸŽ‰ A few of my favorite scenes:

Since people find being hopeful and optimistic so cringe these days, let me remind you once again that there isnโ€™t a single liberation movement in the world that wasnโ€™t built on hope and optimism.

The Utah GOP is currently gathering signatures to put a full repeal of Proposition 4 on the ballot next year. They canโ€™t stand the people having a voice, so they are pulling out all the stops in order to give our power back to the legislature. If you see someone gathering signatures, DONโ€™T SIGN!

Trump Weakens Major Conservation Law to Speed Construction Permits (Published 2020)

For those in the back: The Abundance agenda's push for "permitting reform" adopts & aligns with the fossil fuel industry's playbook under the false premise that if we let capital build everything anywhere all at once that it'll work out for people & place. It won't.

All the folks who contend we do not need to directly challenge the entrenched power of the fossil fuel industryโ€”and that we can accommodate their policy priorities (e.g., federal โ€œpermitting reformโ€)โ€”are either lying or deluding themselves that this is an effective climate strategy. Root. Them. Out.

No WelcomePAC, Ben is not the only person who can win the seat. Nearly any Dem in Salt Lake County could win a D+24 seat.

Very clearly they didnโ€™t count on this happening and just arenโ€™t bothering updating their pre-written texts

1. The Abundance agenda's signature policy priority = "permitting reform."

2. The American Petroleum Institute is running a 7-figure ad buy pushing "permitting reform."

3. "Permitting reform" takes a sledgehammer to bedrock environmental laws essential to fighting fossil fuels.

This is by design.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

Utah Senator John Curtis (R) on White House Renovations:
As Democrats criticize President Trumpโ€™s decision to move forward with building a new ballroom in the East Wing of the White House amid the ongoing government shutdown, Utah Senator John Curtis (R) says he believes the project will ultimately be viewed as a positive and historic improvement.
โ€œI actually believe this is something 50 years from now people will look back on just like Jacqueline Kennedy making her changes,โ€ Curtis told KUTV 2News anchor Heidi Hatch.
โ€œOf course in the moment it always is, โ€˜Wow, this is so special, we shouldnโ€™t be doing this.โ€™โ€ Curtis said while the timing may appear controversial, presidents have the authority to maintain and update the executive residence.
โ€œHeโ€™s the president of the United States. It is the White House โ€” it is executive. If thatโ€™s what he chooses to do, I do think most people will agree the White House is totally inadequate for entertaining state guests,โ€ Curtis said.
The senator suggested that much of the backlash stems not from the project itself, but from political divisions surrounding Trump personally. โ€œA lot of itโ€™s quite frankly tied up with some of the feelings about President Trump himself,โ€ Curtis noted. When asked if the project was a bad look during a shutdown, Curtis responded lightheartedly.
โ€œComplain now, dance later,โ€ Hatch joked. โ€œI suspect so,โ€ Curtis replied.
โ€œWeโ€™ll come back 50 years and follow up and see if Iโ€™m right.โ€
Trump has said the ballroom wonโ€™t cost taxpayers a dime because it is being privately funded by โ€œmany generous Patriots, Great American Companies, and, yours truly.โ€
