Ogden wants to breathe life back into Union Station, and it needs UTA’s help Bringing trains back is part of the mayor’s vision to highlight a historic gem. The city is working with the Utah Transit Authority to figure out logistics.

The walk from Union Station to the bus bays is about a quarter of a mile, but city leaders don't think that'll be a problem.

Utah passed emergency funding for English learners this year. No schools qualified While some schools reported large percentage increases in the number of beginner English learners this year, none met the 30-student threshold established by HB42.

Earlier this year, Utah lawmakers wanted to help schools whose English learner populations had grown fast.

No school qualified under the law's criteria.

ICE arrests a man at his Salt Lake City green card interview The man’s attorney expects him to wind up back where he started, in an interview room trying to get his green card, but with him and his family β€œhaving suffered needlessly” in the meantime.

ICE told KUER the youth soccer coach was arrested for overstaying his visa.

But that’s a common situation for people at their green card interviews. Plus, overstaying a tourist visa is not a disqualifying factor for a green card through marriage.

Thanks!! It makes sense that pending would be included in Crim. I would just love if it were more clear-cut.

That's where I got the definition for threat levels. But I can't find anything on Crim vs Non-Crim.

The footnotes break criminality into 3 categories (Convicted Criminal, Pending Criminal Charges, Other Immigration Violators), but I don't see anything on where each falls in Crim/Non-Crim.

Weber Housing Authority hopes it’s found a home in Roy for supportive housing project It’s not a done deal, but the housing authority hopes to close on the property before the year ends β€” and ahead of a deadline before losing $1 million in funding.

Weber Housing Authority is crossing its fingers that it's found a spot for its deeply affordable housing project: an office building in Roy.

The project was originally proposed for the former Aspen assisted living building in Ogden.

My local jail is the last line here. It would make sense if Male Crim included people with pending charges, because No ICE Threat Level is only people with no convictions. But that's not defined anywhere, right?

Entrance Passes (U.S. National Park Service) The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass Series is your ticket to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites, covering entrance, standard amenity, and day-use fees.

It'll cost more for international tourists to visit Utah's national parks starting Jan 1st.

Annual passes for nonresidents will cost $250, rather than $80. And there'll be an extra $100/person fee to visit some of the most popular parks, including Zion and Bryce Canyon. www.nps.gov/planyourvisi...

Another question - do you know how ADP can be 0 for Threat Levels 1, 2, and 3 while ADP for Male Crim is greater than 0? (For my local jail, it's 2.) I can't find a definition of Male/Female Crim.

A week inside the opaque court where CT immigrants learn their fate The courtroom often resembles an assembly line, with many cases taking less than five minutes.

NEW: I spent a week in Connecticut’s only immigration court, where thousands of people each year learn if they can stay in the United States.

The court doesn’t allow photography, so I took an illustrator.

Volunteers deliver β€œLasagna Love” as shutdown effects linger for Utah families

The nonprofit Lasagna Love usually gets about 2,500 requests per week.

But in late October, as it became clear that SNAP benefits would be interrupted, that surged to around 10,000.

Trump’s purported ICE shake-up stirs worries over Utah’s immigration enforcement A Border Patrol takeover of local leadership could bring more aggressive tactics to the region, like what federal agents have done in Los Angeles and Chicago, said a Nevada immigration law professor.

Immigration enforcement has been relatively calm in Utah, compared to places like Chicago and Los Angeles.

But with a purported Border Patrol takeover of the local ICE office, that could change.

Domestic violence shot up in northern Utah when COVID came around.

After getting a cart full of groceries, she said she wouldn't have to get a second job to feed her family.
