Plot can exist as a thin little outline, it doesn't even need to be complete, the main driving factor for your stories can be that every single character has one or more major and destructive character flaws which define them to their core.
Once they are interacting, stories will emerge naturally.

50% of the deranged batshit coming out of Tech these days is just inherent to the nature of capitalism but the other 50% of it is squarely the fault of the U.S.'s insistence on maintaining the tax-favorability of capital gains.

Most tech companies pay little to no dividends, their investors make money when the stock appreciates in value over the initial purchase price, and it can only do this if the company grows. Which means if the investors want to keep getting paid the company has to keep growing.

Forever.

This is, naturally, completely impossible, hence the daisy-chain of self-delusion and vaporware. Because if the growth music ever stops everyone has to start paying taxes.
