My daughter asked me today if I'd ever heard of a band called "McFly"

Went to an early morning kids' screening of Bad Guys 2 today. Absolutely packed, full house of families with young children.

Early on in the film we learn the crew are after a material called "MacGuffinite".

I did a proper deep-throated belly laugh.

I was the only person in the cinema to laugh.

An upside-down mince pie dusted with sugar. Baked into the pastry is a simple silhouette of a reindeer head, with a round face and antlers at the top. Viewed the wrong way round it almost looks like a squid-like creature with the antlers as tentacles; or possibly the face of cthulu, with his slobbery mandibles at the bottom of his head

I was looking at this M&S Christmas catalogue upside down and for a moment I thought this reindeer was a mince pie with a lovely little cthulu on it.

If they manage to pull this off, and release a proper classic mode that has that joyous Civ gameplay, then I'll give Firaxis all the flowers, as they say. I really want to buy this game! Just give me a good reason! 😉

The prospect of @civilization.2k.com finally adding some kind of "classic" mode is INCREDIBLY exciting. I love Civ, it's my favourite game series, but the Civ-swapping and age-resetting mechanic in Civ 7 is not at all what I want to play. But now I feel like I'm finally getting a new Civ game!

Has anyone ever found out exactly why certain Transformers weren't released in certain markets? I don't mean why Hasbro didn't release every US toy in the UK, but why it was specially Swoop or Six Shot that never got a UK release. Like, did they think that a pterosaur was the least popular dino?

Is it the Optimus one? I wouldn't have clocked the coloured piece personally (although I don't think it's very *good* regardless) but the line art is so strange it looks generated to me. It's almost a grey scale version of the coloured art, it doesn't show any extra detail or literal sketchiness etc

Since then we've had two (possibly three) Doctors who are younger than me, and in all likelihood most of them will be from now on.

I am, in fact, older than Doctor Who.

Tbh she's probably only a moderate fan, she's just going to keep me company 😉

Still, she does have excellent and weirdly 90s-centric taste in music. I was trying to get Radiohead tickets for her.

Just been reminded of this universe-breaking TV moment from 1987 (or maybe '88). Saturday morning UK kids show Get Fresh, hosted by Gaz Top and Charlotte Hindle, with guests Cliff Richard, Shakin' Stevens, Alvin Stardust, and the Zelig of comics, Mr Alan Moore. Plus the dog from Eastenders.

That's insane. I probably watched that at the time.
