The replies and quotes on this are excellent!
A decent estate car will have more space than an SUV, while being safer and more economical for everyone. In the specs, boot space is measured in litres, but it's floor area that is most useful - check length and width (Skoda Superb>Defender 110!).

Once had a friend pick us up coming home from holiday in her SUV. Could not get our 3 suitcases into its boot.
The same 3 suitcases that had previously just about fit OK into my Fiesta's boot.

SUVs are only good at hogging public space. Nothing else.

If the government can retrospectively apply immigration laws to refugees, it can also make things you did in the past that were legal at the time illegal and throw you in prison for them. I could make retrospective taxes and bill you for what you made ten years ago, for example.

So good to read through these replies! I've never understood the K1000 thing, as they're not even the best Pentaxes of the era! For me though, Spotmatics (with Takumars) excel for clarity, Ricohs and Konicas for value for money, and Nikkormats (with Nikkors) for just being so reliable and forgiving.

A post by Zarah Sultana of 'Your Party', that uses a generated image with the words 'Your Party, County Durham Launch', surrounded by nine simple, flat images of images in silhouette with single colour backgrounds, presumably intended to represent Durham, four of which are a man with a weirdly long pick-axe, one is a building, two are gantries of some kind – for a coal mine? – and one is some kind of floating lamp. I will expand on this in the thread.

Okay, I can't let this one go. I live in Ireland, not the UK, but the use of this image by a supposedly socialist party is so stupid and offensive, I'm going to get stuck in.

Let me explain to you why any experienced illustrator/designer could have stopped you making so many miserable mistakes. 1/

The entryway to a tractor ford curves around a fence and tree from the field into the river. The exit is downstream, to allow the tractor to cross partially with the flow. Green November fields, late autumn trees and an ominous sky above.

Of course, memory plays up! (Born and brought up - escaped at 18!)

When the King controls the Roa custom house, and owns all the land from the Walney light house to Birkrigg stone circle to Paradise, he'll have all the custom his pub needs.

I wish Tom would write more about Barrow-in-Furness. All is definitely not as it seems. Black Combe looms over the town, the surrounding estuaries, dunes and salt-marshes, eyed jealously by the neighbouring King of Roe Island and protected only by spirits of monks in the Vale of Deadly Nightshade.

Stringing the bow on a train, with people running past you, would take too much time, but an unstrung 90# longbow is a robust 7' long stick, which could keep someone at bay. However, the sheaf of 3' long, 3/8" shafted pointy things you may also be carrying might get you in trouble.

As someone with a vegan family member, who has always wondered why more people don't even consider meat free options, this is fascinating. (Even if you just scroll through to see the questions and the graphs of results, you might be surprised at how one simple barrier could be overcome.)

Absolutely this. I remember reading once somewhere that the "marshmallow test" didn't actually show what people said it showed, but rather it correlated with a) poverty and b) kids whose adult authority figures lied to them. They took it now because they had no reason to believe they'd get a second.
