The power plant finally has its giant meltdown and mutates all the residents of Springfield… The camera slowly pans out to reveal a sign saying “Welcome to springfield, Road Island!” The citizens all vote to change the name to Quahog to distance the town from the tragedy.

The final episode of The Simpsons should end with the family moving to Quahog, Rhode Island, but along the way they get in an accident with a nuclear waste disposal truck and become the Griffin family. Also they change their names for some reason. It’s airtight.
