I'm having WAY too much fun with my side project atm! Working on something that isn't too heavy on story or atmosphere and more focused on mechanics and silly fun. It's a tower defence where you'll be able to build your own towers and unlock so much stuff!

This is going to be a boring answer but... Pen and paper. Throw down your ideas on it, sketch little things, pour your thoughts down and when you feel like you have a good understanding of your idea, then continue going digital. That's just my personal way of doing it :) Also: references!
