Carpenter says it's investing in Oregon journalism as it closes more newspapers.
Cool story.
If you don't need more stuff in your life (congrats!), find a local station and make a donation. The big metro stations deserve support but have bigger fundraising operations. Dig a bit deeper for a small community station or find one that's lost 50% or more of their total revenue:

KWSO serves the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs here in central Oregon. They have a cool apron...who couldn't use more of those?! kwso.org

After congress rescinded federal funding from public broadcasting, I've made it a point to buy merch and make donations to small community stations. Any leads on other fun stuff on offer? Here's what I've found so far...

Owning a movie/TV car seemed like some real weird stuff...but I would make an exception for Columbo's Peugeot (now up for auction):

A nice feel-good story out of Portland: The Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation (rail museum home to the city-owned historic steam locos) is buying the Oregon Pacific Railroad, the shortline which currently hosts the museum's passenger excursions.

A diagram of the trolley problem titled IWW IU 520 (Railroad Workers) Presents: TROLLEY PROBLEM SOLUTION The illustration shows a trolley on a forking track. On one line five people are tied to the track, on the side track one person is tied to the track. The trolley has passed halfway across the tracks point of intersection. Off to the side a person manning a switch lever gives the viewer a thumbs up. Text beside an arrow pointing at the track intersection reads: "Slip the switch" by flipping it while the trolley's front wheels have passed through, but before the back wheels do. This will cause a controlled derailment bringing the trolley to a safe halt. Thank a rail worker today!
