11.11.2025 10:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 040 year mortgages are already a thing Down Under.
So I ran the numbers on a $678k (national av) P&I variable interest loan to calculate the interest repaid:
20 year: $535,000
30 year: $865,000
40 year: $1,200,000
50 year: $1,600,000
I would *love* to give a bank ~$1m of my hard earned. π€
This '50 year mortgage' idea Trump is pushing is generating some epic memes! π

Screenshot of a tweet from Joyce Carol Oates posted on Sunday, November 9th that reads "so curious that such a wealthy man never posts anything that indicates that he enjoys or is even aware of what virtually everyone appreciates--scenes from nature, pet dog or cat, praise for a movie, music, a book (but doubt that he reads); pride in a friend's or relative's accomplishment; condolences for someone who has died; pleasure in sports, acclaim for a favorite team; references to history. in fact he seems totally uneducated, uncultured. the poorest persons on Twitter may have access to more beauty & meaning in life than the "most wealthy person in the world."
Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.

The largest volunteer army in history. Now largely whitewashed from Western history books, an inconvenience to the narrative 'it was us wot won the War'.

On that point, any sign of Jillian Segal?
Seems like an opportune time for her to step up and do that thingy that she was specifically appointed for.
I'm sorry but the fact that the NSW Police Commissioner is under the pump re the NSN rally at the steps of their Parliament has much to do with the slogan on display.
Had it said 'Migrants out' or 'Australia for the white man', he wouldn't be being grilled by Sarah Ferguson right now.
Uh, just found out that a former consulting colleague, who also happened to be a former Treasury Secretary, passed away over the weekend.

Because housing (alongside food and energy) are 'cradle to grave' basic needs (not wants).
'Vibe coding' named word of the year by Collins Dictionary.
Um, that's two words, which in my estimation makes it a phrase instead.

When you get to the stage where 1 in 5 households are experiencing food insecurity, you've passed the cost-of-living 'crisis' stage and normalised cost-of-living precariousness.

As to why so many people moved from the subcontinent to British colonies in the Caribbean, here's a hint... 1834.

So Zohran #Mamdani has forebears who left India 200 years ago for a British colony (Uganda), a few decades before mine.
A reminder, if it's needed, that people like us are here (in Western nations) because imperial colonisers were there (in Eastern ones).
And no, we're not 'fresh off the boat'. π€·ββοΈ
