Some challenges are not a game for one player; when we hope for something big, the journey can be challenging. Finding your squad, your cheerleaders, your tribe, can be vital. Lots of people may not be interested or care about what you are striving for but there will be people who get it, get you, and want you to succeed. It might be in person or it might be online, but I’d encourage you to find your tribe of people who can encourage you in the pursuit of what you’re hoping for..."
I often share passages I've highlighted in books, but never before from my own book! I'm findings things that I already know but I need reminding of. Today it is about the importance of the amazing people I have around me who cheer me on and encourage me. I'm very very grateful for them.

"A leader is a dealer in hope" says Napoleon Bonaparte. Image of this quote along with a black and white line drawing of Napoleon and 'Hope is a Strategy' branding
We agree with Napoleon that "A leader is a dealer in hope". Well, they should be even though many get it wrong.

This is a moving interview with Nick Cave, reflecting on Hope (which he describes as a warrior emotion) after the death of two of his sons. It is a powerful reminder that Hope can exist in the most difficult of situations and that Hope can be contagious.

The demand for hope is growing significantly across the globe, yet a major issue is that the term 'hope' is often misunderstood as mere wishful thinking in everyday language. This couldn't be further from reality, and this quote captures the true essence beautifully.

A photo of the pitch at Anfield Stadium an hour before kick-off so there aren’t many fans yet and the sprinklers are on watering the pitch. Photo is taken from the Sir Kenny Dalglish stand and shows the main stand and a bit of the Annie Road stand.
Ready for what is likely to be a very exciting 90 minutes of football. Come on you Reds! #LFC #YNWA

An image of a blond lady, Kelly Swingler looking thoughtful along with the title of her book - F*CK BURNOUT - the text ‘I’m celebrating with Kelly Swingler’ and her logo.
On the train heading to my good friend @kellyswingler.bsky.social book launch. Really looking forward to seeing Kelly, getting my hands on a physical copy of the book, and attending my first ever book launch!

Biohacking: Breakthrough or Bro Science?
I’m listening to the ‘Your diet sucks' podcast and they sound a ’n=1' klaxon whenever anyone shares a personal experience and assumes that the same thing will work for everyone. I like this! Maybe we need this klaxon for L&D/Leadership podcasts? open.spotify.com/episode/0tlF...

Totally! Back to what James said about being performative! So frustrating and wasteful.

I’d find it difficult to disagree with anything you two have said on this! Isn’t it a 1988 study that said we need primary (get the org / culture / systems right) + secondary (training etc where needed) + tertiary (help people when they struggle) interventions? Being performative never helps!
