Also some pictures I took as I was making it. I don't have the space right now to keep all the drawings and paintings, especially if I want to keep doing mixed media stuff, so I might consider selling a handful away for cheap to whoever wants one.

We only had a month to make this, so a lot had to be cut out or edited to meet the hard deadline.

The full cartoon was originally going to be inked and painted on watercolor paper, then composited digitally. (Only 2 1/2 shots ended up being done with paint due to time constraints. The rest was done digitally)

Sneak peek of a very short cartoon I'm working on. I'm likely going to have to rush through the rest of it so it might not look this good, but at least I have this shot to be semi-proud of! I animated it digitally, then traced the frames onto watercolor paper and then painted each frame.

Sorry I'm not on here a lot! Here's this study I did a couple weeks back based on a Pinterest photo. I probably should have used something other than a grease pencil bit oh well

Some character design sketches and drawings. I feel like my character here is starting to look a lot more detailed and unique - except...maybe not because the Rumiko Takahashi influence is EXTREMELY apparent, but I'm getting closer to figuring him out.

Also some character design concept doodles. I feel like I finally figured out his hair at least. It was bothering me for a while.

Some quick paintings. I don't paint a whole lot, it's pretty easy to tell. I'd like to get better at this eventually. The latter is a concept drawing from an animation test currently in the works.

In all seriousness, though, I got introduced to Crayon Shin-chan last year, and it's quickly become one of my absolute favorite cartoons, period.

Some Crayon Shin-chan inspired doodles from last year. (Don't ask me why I drew Phineas and Ferb and Lupin in the Shin-chan style)

Couple shots I animated on Procreate Dreams. It was for a larger project that I may come back to soon.

I might redesign this guy soon. I'm worried he's looking a little too much like Ataru from Urusei Yatsura. And that's not even entirely on purpose, Rumiko Takahashi's style has just kind of just made it's way into my own natural drawing style.

OC doodles from today. I'm really sucky at coming up with my own original poses, so I glanced at some model poses for these.

A quick, spontaneous and fully straight-ahead animation test I did about a month ago. I wanted to try out a more limited style, heavily inspired by '70's gag anime. (Particularly by the studio "A-Pro", predecessor to Shin-Ei, which did The Gutsy Frog and certain episodes of Lupin III Part I)

I found a pretty cheap copy of George Bridgman's "Constructive Anatomy" during a recent Barnes and Noble buying spree, and I've just been going hog-wild doing these studies.

.....GOD this stuff is so, so hard, but I do kinda like doing them despite everything.

Crayon Shin-chan sincerely has some of the greatest cartooning I've ever been lucky to witness. I think I took a screenshot of every single frame that was in this episode

Also this one's mainly just an easter egg for those in the know, but peep the little Koji Nanke UY OP reference there. Koji Nanke is one of my favorite animators period. A masterclass animator, designer, and mixed-media artist, his work heavily inspires me.

I've worked on it a little since then, but still haven't had the time to finish it completely. Once it's done, I'll share the finished version here.
