I hadn't heard about it. Our Conservative PM Brian Mulroney at the time and Ronald Reagan were friends. Both decended from Irish immigrants. Together they forged the Free Trade Agreement January 2, 1988. I still remember the two singing When Irish Eyes Are Smiling together on stage at some function.
