I told our children as soon as they were old enough to understand you will vote because your great grandparents could not, not voting has never been an option.

16.03.2025 20:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Image of Dolores Huerta, a labor organizer and a feminist activist, with a quote attributed to her reading "Every moment is an organizing opportunity, every person a potential activist and every minute a chance to change the world." At the bottom of the image it says ACLU and Women's History Month.
Dolores Huerta is one of the most influential labor leaders of the 20th Century.
She witnessed firsthand how many farm workers in her community suffered from low wages and poor working conditions, so she co-founded United Farm Workers to fight for the rights of farm laborers.
Self care good for you. What would have to us if we ignored a court order?

When you are lawfully present in any public space, you have the right to photograph anything in plain view, including federal buildings and the police. If you believe your rights have been violated, when you can, write down everything you remember, get contact information for witnesses, and take photographs of any injuries. If you get stopped by the police, ask if you're free to go. If they say yes, calmly walk away.If you get arrested, you have a right to ask why. Otherwise, say you wish to remain silent and ask for a lawyer immediately. Don't sign, say or agree to anything without a lawyer present. If you get stopped by a member of the military or any law enforcement office at a protest, you have the right to remain silent or to tell them that youβll only answer questions in the presence of an attorney β no matter your citizenship or immigration status.β
If youβre protesting this weekend, know your rights.

You are a stronger person because of the shit you've gone through.β The quote is attributed to "Miss Major, activist, author, organizer for transgender rights" On the graphic is a photo of Miss Major, a Black woman with grey curly hair. In the bottom right is a burgundy banner that reads "Women's History Month"
Miss Major has been fighting for transgender rights for decades. She participated in the 1969 Stonewall Riots, became involved in grassroots community organizing, and served with several HIV and AIDS assistance organizations.
This Women's History Month, we honor her as a leader and mentor.
But the Jan 6 protesters were pardoned?! P

27.02.2025 19:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0THE RAINCOAT When the doctor suggested surgery and a brace for all my youngest years, my parents scrambled to take me to massage therapy, deep tissue work, osteopathy, and soon my crooked spine unspooled a bit, I could breathe again, and move more in a body unclouded by pain. My mom would tell me to sing songs to her the whole forty-five-minute drive to Middle Two Rock Road and forty-five minutes back from physical therapy. Shed say that even my voice sounded unfettered by my spine afterward. So I sang and sang, because I thought she liked it. I never asked her what she gave up to drive me, or how her day was before this chore. Today, at her age, I was driving myself home from yet another spine appointment, singing along to some maudlin but solid song on the radio, and I saw a mom take her raincoat off and give it to her young daughter when a storm took over the afternoon. My god, I thought, my whole life I've been under her raincoat thinking it was somehow a marvel that I never got wet. Ada LimΓ³n
I love how tender this is.
