Also I'm absolutely gut-wrenched every time I rewatch Sayaka wondering/assuming she's a terrible person because a part of her wants Kyoske to like her back for wishing to help him. God. Girl your 14 it is indeed normal to want your crush to like you back because you did something for them

In general it's v. easy for ppl to come up with a solution that doesn't actually deal with the root of an issue- so even if they manage to get their solution they aren't actually satisfied by it because it didn't address the problem properly.

I love wishes with a cost / having a risk of coming back to bite but in most media it's the stupid monkey paw idea of like "it will always be the worst version you could have possibly wished for because fuck you for wanting anything actually"

One of my favorite concepts discussed (albeit briefly) in Madoka magica was the idea of people's wishes betraying them not because of some great cosmic thing but simply because most people misunderstand what they want so it comes back to bite them.
