I've been fishing a lot (like, alot alot) on my 3WT Echo Carbon XL & Orvis Battenkill Click this summer.
It's by far my favorite rod combo I have. It's so much fun on the water!

I'm sorry AI folks, but MCP servers ain't it. (Yet?)
The trust chain is too long, too fragile, and too invisible to the user.
I think weβre leaping before we look.

This so much.
Sometimes process reveals culture. Tools may even amplify it.
They are just mirrors. If you don't like what they show, the mirror isn't the problem.
#DeltaAirlines using AI to maximum profits for pricing, is just another reason to not fly Delta.

Time off has been refreshing. Itβs given me space to reflect on whatβs made past teams and projects meaningful
Trust keeps coming up. Being trusted for your expertise, whether leading or being led -- creates space to care, to build, and to do your best work
Still on sabbatical. Still exploring
Speaking of fishing. I headed up to the High Country for some beauties last weekend.
Happy Summer!
In-between fishing/camping trips, I try to find time to work on @community.ms #PnPjs
I'm liking my new Office but my coworker keeps asking for treats and ear scratches.

I'm thinking of starting a business where I just come in and write auth code for companies struggling to do it.
Having trouble getting OAuth to work in your Apps for M365? Having trouble integrating third party auth flows into your applications?
I'll come in, write some code, and leave.

Gemini worked! 4o, Claude 3.5 both failed to generate unique guids for me.
Super Interesting. It's just start at a seed value and just iterating over and updating each part of the sequence.
26.05.2025 14:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I asked Github Copilot (4o) to generate me a unique guid... this is what it generated.

Apparently it just thinks a Guid is a number followed letter.
Anyone seeing similar?

23.05.2025 13:53 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A reminder to my friends in software. It's a bad idea to do a deployment on Fridays.
It's an even worse idea to do a deployment on a Friday on a Holiday Weekend.
You WILL NOT interrupt my shenanigans. I have Pork Butt to smoke!!
I'll give people the benefit of the doubt. These folks aren't SharePoint experts, and as we know SharePoint is quite nuanced.
However, I would have preferred a bit more validation before a post and subsequently being reposted many times on LinkedIn.
Follow me for more SharePoint things, and other non-sense!
Here's a photo of my dogs for internet points!
β This is why SharePoint consultants always put a heavy emphasis on SharePoint Permissions. Many organizations aren't aware of how SharePoint permissions work which often leads to data leaks into Organizations.
22.05.2025 12:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 05. Based on the all the above, it's safe to say that CoPilot is working as intended. It is executing on behalf of the user and using the permissions the user has.
It did not access content the user didn't already have access to.
4. "This also provided a method to circumvent the download restrictions of the βRestricted Viewβ privilege"
This circumvented nothing. Because the user has proper permissions to view the contents of the file as i noted. They could already do this themselves had the SharePoint preview not loaded.
3. If the user didn't have permission to view the file, they wouldn't have seen it in the SharePoint listing.
SharePoint permissions don't work the way the blog post is describing. If the user actually didn't have permissions, it would not have visible in the library in the first place.
2. User has "Restricted View"
This gives the user the ability to read the file, just not download the file. Ergo, they have permission to get access to the contents of the file.
SharePoint failed to load to preview, not because of "Restricted View". It just failed.
1. "Notably, in this case all methods of opening the file in the browser had been restricted."
No. It wasn't restricted. This is common in SharePoint Online, can happened with any file for any number of reasons (corruption, file type, etc).
Look, I'm a Global Admin and I can't preview a file.
This post is very misleading. The user had "Restricted View"βthey could access the file. SharePointβs preview failed due to a rendering error, not permissions. CoPilot acted within the userβs rights. The issue isnβt a security gap, itβs a misunderstanding of how SharePoint works.

Power Platform Connection References may be the buggiest piece of functionality I have ever used in my life.
How Microsoft was allowed to ship this functionality is beyond me.
