Got emergency appointment right away, broken tooth extracted. After various waits for healing, post implanted, has a crown now.

Why wasn't the crack visible before it let go? It was front-to-back, so in same plane as x-ray image, so invisible.

I've had the complementary experience. Tooth felt a bit off, sometimes a little sensitive. Dentist looked, tapped, took x-rays, couldn't see a problem.

Kept checking it on every cleaning/inspection visit, still couldn't see it.

Then it cracked, and of course hurt like hell.

Newly-installed permanent crowns too, I have found.
