Starting in 2026, all Ida B. Wells Elementary students will be rezoned for Jere Baxter Middle and Maplewood High. The zone change will impact 56 students who currently attend Stratford STEM Magnet School, who will have the option to stay without district transportation.

Bob Mendes, a top adviser and campaign supporter of Mayor Freddie O'Connell, is leaving the mayor's office. A former two-term at-large Metro councilmember, Mendes has served as chief development officer since O'Connell's inauguration in late 2023.
