We have an EV tariff for charging overnight which gives us 7p per unit between 11:30 and 05:30 for all electric usage. It’s cut the return on investment time on our solar and battery installation significantly.

I guess speak to your installer? The big sticking point is not being able to recharge the battery from solar without mains. We top ours up on cheap electricity overnight so it’s always full in the morning. Lasts us until about 6pm in winter, pretty much all day in the summer.

As far as I know you definitely can’t solar charge your battery during a power cut because the inverter needs mains. But I believe you can have a set up where you can use whatever is in the battery. Not as standard, though.

Yes, was coming to say this. I was most put out to discover the house battery is no use in a power cut. But I do have a cable for my EV battery to draw from that if need be.

We sold all ours before downsizing. About 400 CDs. Got about £50, hardly worth the effort. Still have all our vinyl though.
