Demolition of Thorpeness home threatened by costal erosion begins Workers are demolishing the home in Thorpeness after the cliff edge got to within 5m.

Thorpeness, just a short distance from Sizewell!
"It is devastating to see but time & tide will wait for no-one"..."the rate at which the coast was eroding was "horrifying".
Surely it's time for a major re-think of risking ยฃbns of public funds on Sizewell C

Just had a little chat with the Reform Party in Lowestoft High Street. The take-away was when Mummery (Lowestoft Reform candidate) said, and I quote, "He's (Farage) the Messiah"
so I replied "...and I'm Pontius Pilate".

No surprise - the North Sea continues to erode the coast in front of the Sizewell C site & now appears to be less than 20 metres from the site boundary where the temporary sea defences are being constructed. Sizewell C - a #climatechange casualty, not a solution

'Sizewell C oak tree felling would be devastating', say residents Middleton locals urge Sizewell C to think twice before considering cutting down 10 century-old oaks.

"They [Sizewell C] say it will be done on an ad hoc basis when they have got the saws out...We just want them to stop & think before they go ahead & do, because these oaks would still be here long after Sizewell C is decommissioned"

My kitchen window faces my neighbour's kitchen window. Sometimes I want to drink leftover gravy straight from the jug but I don't want my neighbours to look in and judge me, so I squat on the floor out of view.

Great Private Eye article. "In the case of Sizewell C, the new French nuclear power station recently given the go-ahead, ministers simply ignored the strictures of the planning authorities and regulators."

I hadn't noticed this section of a BBC article on Hinkley Point C from December 2023.

The quoted analyst makes the same calculations I previously have and comes to the same answer โ€“ the EPR nuclear reactors being built at Hinkley Point and proposed for Sizewell are ruinously expensive

As a kid, both the Barsham Faires and The Waveney Clarion had a profound impact on me. At 12 yrs old Clarion legend Mick Sparksman (creator of the Coypu cartoons), commissioned me to illustrate some riot police from the infamous SPG (you know, the one's who killed Blair Peach) for the newspaper.

I saw a scream of 25 having a ball above a deserted area of my home town, Lowestoft yesterday. I've been following a lonely gang of 3 in the skies here all summer. I was so surprised and happy I joined in the melee and starting screeching. Until a single dog walker came along and eyed me warily.

For The Observer, Iโ€™ve written about where Glastonbury sits within not just an increasingly corporate festival scene, but also wider British culture, and whether it can hold on to its countercultural roots in a live music industry in crisis
