Brendan Fraser Says β€˜Batgirl’ Cancellation Is an Example of Movies Being β€˜Commodified’ in Hollywood Brendan Fraser says 'Batgirl' being shelved shows that movies are being 'commodified' in Hollywood in a new interview.

Brendan Fraser on Warner Bros.’s decision to shelve Batgirl as a cost-cutting measure: β€œThe product , I’m sorry β€˜content’, is being commodified to the extent that it’s more valuable to burn it down and get the insurance on it than to give it a shot in the marketplace.” au.variety.com/2025/film/ne...

re: roblox dude's interview crashout. the thing he wants to say but can't is "at scale, kids are gonna get hurt. that is the price for scale." the thing nobody wants to say out loud is "maybe scaling to a level where harm isn't manageable is bad, and scale should be contained"

A digital poster in the style of a World War II propaganda piece. Isolaed on a yellow background, a normal, squarish, 20-something guy with glasses is sitting working on a laptop. A ghostly figure of Hitler has his arm around the guy and is grinning and shaking a fist triumphantly looking at the laptop screen. On the lid of the laptop where an apple might otherwise be is an openAI logo, bright green, and dripping green ooze down the lid. Text on the poster, in combinations of sans-serif type and brush script reads:
Using Generative AI?
You’re prompting with Hitler!
GenAI is a Fascist Project!
Try using your brain instead
Don’t surrender your creativity to the tech billionaire’s control

Ultimately, the death of US manufacturing is about this attitude. It's easy to say "buy american or stfu" because virtue signaling is free. But it's hard to actually sustain a business because many Americans simply don't want to pay what it costs to produce things ethically in this country

Little bit of trivia about twin sticks in FPS on PS1: Medal of Honor in 1999 pips Alien Resurrection to the post on having modern FPS controls. BUT, the only reason why it's a lesser-known example is because they're buried away as the *fourth* option after a couple of really odd ones.

SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

This Friday, Australia's men's national team will contest the ANZAC Soccer Ashes against New Zealand in Canberra.

The match will come just after the so-called 'March for Australia' -- the divisive, racist anti-immigration rallies held across the country on Sunday.

The PFA unequivocally condemns these events, their message, violence, and the harm they caused to Australia's multicultural communities and our First Nations people.

While its organisers and attendees -- including known neo-Nazis -- seek to sow division, Friday's match will stand as a powerful reminder of the strength of multiculturalism and the unique role it plays in Australian life and Australian football.

Our Socceroos will take the field with players united by a shared goal: representing our country and its many communities, races and people.

This team, like so many before it, reflects the resilience, contribution, and spirit of migrant communities across generations.

The PFA stands proudly in solidarity with multicultural communities and will continue to oppose attempts to divide our nation through hatred, intimidation or intolerance.

Running #Melbourne's Metro trains more like an actual metro, with frequent services all day every day, would bring huge benefits. Fixing the 30, 40, 60 minute gaps should be a priority.

In the Pleasure Dome, the seedy, sexy club that's one of my fave fictional clubs. A metal stairway between the stage on which a dancer gyrates and high kicks away and a table with patrons seated has more club goers. Like all the graphics in this colour-reduced version, it's got a distinct greenish/black tone that feels like deliberate colourgrading
