I do not perceive that a person ‘rambling’ in their thoughts is negative. Just as we get to truly see the countryside when we ramble through it, sometimes we need to slowly wend our way through our thoughts, in order to recognise what is there and where we are within it. #listening #coaching

it takes presence to notice:
What’s quietly ripening beneath the surface?
What might be gently gathered today, rather than forced or missed?

It’s made me think about how we hold space for ideas—in ourselves, our learners, our team, our supervisees.
Not every thought is ready to be named.
Not every reflection is ripe on our schedule.

In the last few months I’ve been blackberrying.
There’s a moment when a berry is just right—glossy, full, and ready.
Too soon, and it’s bitter.
Too late, and it squishes between your fingers, overripe and dulled.

🫐 In Reflective Practice, Leadership and in Education, timing is everything.
Rush the insight, and it resists.
Leave it too long, and the moment fades.
