BotW is all about the journey. The exploration is the true masterpiece. I start a new playthrough every year, and sometimes I don’t even finish the story.

Now, once you get to Tears of the Kingdom, that’s got a great story and a FANTASTIC ending. AND the journey along the way is even better.

I think they may have realized the problem because I don’t think it makes a difference whether you sprint into a jump or not. The game is actually really forgiving in a lot of ways, even if it doesn’t seem like it at first.

Give it some time. You’ll find its second nature after awhile. Most of what you’re describing is pretty standard for modern games so it’s a good hurdle to conquer.

The thing about BotW that still is slightly wonky for me is Jump being on the X button up top, nowhere near the sprint button. 🧐

The #1 movie from when you were 10 years old is how your 2026 is going to go.

I only beat Castlevania 1 and 3 because of save states πŸ˜…

Time. You had infinite time to chill out, practice, etc. And kids’ brains learn patterns faster.
Also Mega Man 1 is harder than some of the rest.

Rewind and save states are the only reason that I think some retro games are worth playing today (for adults with full lives and time constraints).

FWIW, some heat problems might be solved by reapplying the thermal paste inside the Switch. I had to do that with my Switch OLED after it accidentally got left on inside its case for awhile; the cheap paste they put in there actually melted and spilled into the SD card slot.

It almost literally can’t run Arkham Knight at all; they should never have released it. Arkham Asylum and City play exactly like they did when they launched on PS3 and 360, which is great. I can’t speak to overheating, but they don’t feel unstable to me at all, or like they’re pushing too hard.

1, 2,3 is best, since the gameplay and format actually advances. The story also works better that way, for spoiler reasons.

There’s literally an ongoing optional subplot where you can repeatedly visit an old woman by a creek who is grieving the loss of her husband. So as the weeks and months go by, you can talk with her, comfort her and help her to move onβ€”which also makes you grow as a person too.

The idea is that as you grow as a person, your powers grow too. Same for every party member. So even the seemingly-mundane things you spend your time doing in ordinary life affect what happens in the other world. Like the broad metaphors of storytelling aren’t metaphors anymore.

Persona is actually super unique. Alternates between visual novel, life sim and dungeon-crawler (with turn-based combat).
It opens up as you play along, so at first you’re mostly vibing with the story, then it gradually opens up more and more.

It starts with moving to a rural town that’s sadly being overtaken over by a Walmart. It ends with fighting a literal god.

Persona 4 Golden is in my top 5 game experiences of all time. It was worth buying an entire PlayStation Vita for back in the day.

It’s basically a mystery-solving gang going through intense personal therapy that unlocks elemental/psychological powers for fighting evil.

I ended up moving on from FF2 because of that system. 😐
I may go back one day, but only for completion’s sake.

FWIW, I opted not to get it on Switch because after doing research, it seemed way too blurry for the game’s artistic level of detail. =/

But it does run apparently. Like, it’s playable.

This, yeah. When I take my Switch traveling, I use a USB-C hub with HDMI, plugged into the official Switch power supply.

Canon has avoided answering that, but seems to imply that recharging isn’t worth worrying about.

Clone Wars and Rogue One add that sabers’ kyber crystals are living entities and can turn small amounts of energy into disproportionately powerful beams, so sabers are both weird and super-efficient.
