some state between being a software developer and engineer

I'm going to be a little vulnerable and tell you about great practices that work well with my ADHD.
All are welcome.

Periodic reminder: before you start organizing stuff, throw away anything unused first. Works for code, clothes, tools, art supplies.

One interesting thing I've learned when talking with GitHub CEO @ashtom.bsky.social last week is how GitHub is hiring *more* early-careers devs (interns / new grads) as before.
I asked: why? Given lots of companies are hiring less assuming AI might be at the level of a junior dev (cont'd)
A company that demands engineers do their job badly unless given permission to do it well is going to end up with the software it deserves.
26.05.2025 10:06 — 👍 10 🔁 3 💬 0 📌 0What I am hearing: several of Big Tech are squeezing their dev contractors
/agencies to cut fixed contract costs by 20-30%, telling them their costs are down/efficiency is up by this much thanks to AI.
Where the data comes from: companies like Accenture stating just this:
😮
"Scientists have discovered that the molecule DIM reduces biofilms causing dental plaque by 90%. Its addition to toothpaste and mouthwash could revolutionize dental hygiene."

No matter how much I like the iPad, but for programming, Mac is the way 🤝
One thing I'm surprised is not taking off much more, across mainstream email providers is proxy emails / emails masking.
Emails are becoming increasingly important, as is privacy to hide your "main" email address.
What services that do this do you use/would you recommend?
Apple’s Hide My Email.
It’s not perfect, and the way it’s done limits how and when it’s useful, but best I’ve found so far.
👌 true

If someone notices is bothered as much as to spend time and energy on it, they could write a caption instead and suggest it to the owner so they can accept/use it.
Hopefully this first suggestion would come from AI soon.
Reflecting on my behavior and observations, I believe:
Users choose products for features and unmet needs,
stay for polish and quality.
Features matter the most at launch,
while quality and UX sustains established products.
To keep creating the most value, acknowledge the shift; act accordingly.
Totally agree 🤝
