It's ironic, you mentioned in your 3D Sonic vid how Prime 4's existence alongside Dread was an example of Nintendo learning their lessons from the mishandling of the Metroid IP.

And I'm with you! Stuff like the first human NPC's dialogue is worth getting concerned about, I wouldn't want that to be the whole game either. But all fanbases are this unfairly reactionary and can't STAND seeing their favorite series critiqued. Unfortunately the best thing to do is ignore them.

As for wanting 3D Metroid to play more like 2D, the harsh truth is that Nintendo has already drawn that line in the sand, each leaning more and more into their respective directions. The one time a 2D-like 3D Metroid game was made was Other M, but that flopped so they ain't doing it again.

With how reactionary fanbases as a whole are, I think this led to Prime diehards considering ANY concerns as "invalid".

Believe it or not this is not a Sonic-exclusive problem, it's a problem with almost any gaming fanbase ever.

I think it's worth noting that this isn't a one-sided issue. There was a lot of toxic negativity surrounding the mere concepts of Samus riding a motorcycle in a big open area, touting them as "cringe" and "open world slop" respectively.

OG Mario Kart 8 wasn't even nominated for soundtrack of the year at TGA 2014, so don't be surprised.

It sometimes feels like game critics only care for game scores to be imitations of blockbuster movie scores, purely serving a status quo rather than being something legitimately memorable.

Frankly I also just straight up can't stand the item balancing, you leave yourself defenseless for one second and it's over.

Ultimately it's Mario Kart, it's still an inherently great multiplayer and party game, but I def feel a bit let down by it.

Honestly the more I play Mario Kart World the more I start to just, inherently dislike how it plays?

Like in order to make the parkour work, the core driving has to be super sluggish and basic, drifting and being airborne feel really bad and slow.

Rails are okay but a lil TOO unreliable I feel.

I think a big big part of why Sonic Crossworlds won so many people over, beyond having a blue rat the fanbase is insistent on always defending, is that it's basically trying to replicate MK8's appeal.

(Also playing the beta, I think the game feel is REALLY nice and snappy but shh don't tell anyone)

As someone who's owned MKWorld for a couple months now, I think the issue is it's at its best when it's just being a replica of MK8 with a cool new parkour system, and at its worst with damn near everything else new it attempts.

Yup. However, we can compare the Switch 2 Edition prices for already released Switch 1 games to their Switch 1 counterparts.

Kirby and Mario Party are both $80, $20 more expensive than their Switch 1 variants.

BotW is $70 and TotK is $80, $10 more expensive.

So the upgrades are prolly $10-$20.

Nintendo themselves confirmed in the Direct that if you own a Switch 1 game with a Switch 2 upgrade, you can buy an Upgrade Pack. I'm assuming for Prime 4, it'll be $10, MAYBE $20 if Nintendo's feeling extra scummy.
