Those are Stripe Central Socks (www.periwinkledragon.ca/patterns/str...) and the yarn is from Stitch Noir (www.stitchnoir.com). Absolutely zero bleed in the wash, even the dark one. They still look great, even after a year of wear by my spouse. Highly recommend that dyer!

Oblique Reflex Socks These socks with an afterthought heel use bias sections to make a self-striping yarn shift at various angles. Both toe-up and cuff-down instructions are available.

It’s actually a very easy pattern to knit! All you need is self-striping yarn and some increases and decreases in the right places. 😊

Yoga instructors just do not understand the concept of a beginner. Case in point: I took a “beginner” yoga class today and we spent — no joke — 2/3 of it on the finer details of the two warrior poses. 30 minutes of, essentially, never-ending lunges. It was horrendous. Unbalanced and boring. Why.

I want to enjoy yoga. It seems like a thing I should like: slow-paced, detail-oriented, easy to see incremental improvements in your skills over time. But every time I take a yoga class, I hate it. Trying to learn enough to not be a beginner anymore is a nightmare.

One of my great-uncles spent 2 years in a POW camp after Dieppe. He spent the rest of his life talking to young people about his experiences to drive home how horrible wars are and how seriously we need to take protecting democracy.

Canadians now see the US as a threat, not as a friend, no matter how many Americans try to apologize or rush to say, “But *I* didn’t vote for him!”

It doesn’t matter. The damage is done.
